Science teachs us that earth was created over billions of years, yet religion tell us that God created earth is Six days. Does that mean holy books are simply made up by men. They could not even tell that earth moves, and they claim that earth is flat....

I have done very bad and immoral things in life.
But I am a believer and I will eventually go to heaven after my punishment in hell
But a friend of mine is a very decent person but he has doubts about religion, he tells it might be mythological
So he will burn in hell eternally although he is a very decent person
I don't want to see him in heaven anyway
I would prefer to see sinner believers there, grinning just like me
Besides,why doesn't he believe?
Doesn't God make public speeches everyday?
Aren't there rational things in the bible like "talking donkeys"?
So why does he think religion might be mythological
Anyway, he will burn in hell eternally like Gandhi (maybe he was decent but he didn't belive in Abrahamic God..)
and I am, the sinning grinning believer will go to heaven eternally after my punishment in hell
Wooow!! I love this injustice !!
What do you think who should be punished?
Me or my friend and Gandhi?

From wikipedia, which is not unmoderated as some people may say -

"Feathered dinosaurs are regarded by many paleontologists as transitional fossils between birds and dinosaurs (see Dinosaur-bird connection). It was already well known that ancient birds such as Archaeopteryx had many saurian characteristics, such as claws on their 'fingers' and teeth. For many years it had been theorized that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs. In the late 1990s, discoveries of feathered dinosaurs provided conclusive evidence of the connection, though the genealogical details are still incomplete."

Note the use of the words "transitional fossils". Weren't creationists hung up on the idea that there aren't any of these?

Also anyone who has any other evidence of the transition from therapod to avian would be welcome.

Why do many people believe that if you are against abortions you must be against the death penalty also? It is strange to me that anybody at all could believe that a serial killer or rapist has the same right to life as a fetus. (I'm not saying I'm anti-abortion, I'm not seeking to promote my beliefs, I'm not criticising others, I only want opinions.)
Those who insist the death penalty is as wrong as abortion...
A six-month fetus is a living being who can already hear, feel, sleep, and dream. It is an innocent being unable to even comrehend evil or bad. I understand the belief that it has a right to live.Ted Bundy brutally raped, tortured, and murdered an estimated 40 young girls in three years. He escaped from jail twice to commit more savage atrocities onto womankind. How does this type of being deserve the right to life? Doesn't a person like this deserve to die before it happens again?
How can anybody say that the two examples are equal in their right to live?

I noticed that some religious denominations do the following:

1-) Donate money towards that big corporation or organization
2-) Print a bunch of pamphlets, leavelets and booklets
3-) Re-print holly books
4-) Visit people in a very methodical ORGANIZED manner like recruting
5-) Try to get more members at all cost.

I am wondering what is the plan? As many of these "donations" do not really go to help the poor. Am I the onlyone smelling something fishy?

Adam to Abraham and Abraham to John the Baptist all preached Oneness of God.Why!

I deal with a chemical imbalance for which I am on medications, My 7 year old son has asperger's syndrome, my 17 year old daughter is pregnant, we are struggling with money issues, I am returning to health after almost dying 2 years ago. Yet I am firm in my belief that I am blessed beyond measure. Can you honestly say that any blessing makes all the adversity you face less severe? I do. I love this forum and so many people here are sweet, even the non believers but sometimes I hurt for some of the ones I see suffering each day and I feel like perhaps I should leave the forum as I often do not know what to say to them to make them feel better. I have a mothering complex and wish to see everyone happy, is that wrong?

Jesus had just chosen 70 disciples, and he “sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come.” When the 70 returned, they were rejoicing over the success of their mission. “Lord, even the demons are made subject to us by the use of your name,” they said. At that point, Jesus said: “I began to behold Satan already fallen like lightning from heaven.”—Luke 10:1, 17, 18.

WHAT DID JESUS MEAN WHEN HE SAID THAT HE ALREADY BEHELD SATAN FALLING LIKE LIGHTENING FROM HEAVEN?

What do you think about the following verses? Did it already happen or not? Verse 24-26 talks about Holicost doesn't it?
25 The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth. 26 Your carcasses will be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away. 27 The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured. 28 The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind. 29 At midday you will grope about like a blind man in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

The Bible endorses homosexual behaviour and we shall provide one such example which is exemplified in the story of the relationship between Daniel and the prince of the eunuchs.

The verse is:

“Vayiten ha-Elohim et-Daniyel leKHesed u’leraKHamim lifnei sar hasarisim” (Daniel 1:9)

[i.e., “Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs” (KJV).]

The Hebrew words, which describe the relationship between Daniel and the prince of the Eunuchs, are “KHesed” and “RaHamim”.

The first of these indeed means “goodness, kindness, faithfulness”. The word “RaHamim”, however, derives from the Semitic root R-H-M, which refers to a womb.1 The KJV’s rendering of “RaHamim” as “tender love” would therefore entail and indespensible element of physical love, or love which is manifested through physical contact.

Now, look at our two characters: The prince of the eunuchs is of course an eunuch. Daniel, in the opinion of the Jewish commentators, was also an eunuch.2 Hence an affair between them involving physical love would correctly be termed as a homosexual affair (i.e., between an eunuch and another eunuch).

Of course there is no “twisting” done to the sense or material of the verse, which are presented as they stand. Some may object that it is quite impossible for an eunuch to have any sexual contact. I would like to highlight this argument by pointing out an even more elementary matter: the deprivation of the testes or external genitals in a man or boy does not result in the change of sex of the same to a woman or girl. Hence the “tender love” between Daniel and the prince of the eunuchs would nonetheless remain a homosexual affair.

Secondly, the terms “eunuch” and “castration” are invariably spoken of male subjects; the correct corresponding term for females is “spaying”.

Thirdly, why should one entertain the possibility that the eunuch (as in Daniel’s “prince of the eunuchs”), would have to be the active sexual partner, when the common sense assigns to him the passive role?

Fourthly, it is also abundantly clear that this is not the only homosexual affair from the Bible. It is also believed that Jonathon and David too (according to the Biblical account) were more than just the “closest of friends”; they were passionate homosexual lovers.3

Hence from this brief exposition, it is inconceivable that the “word of God” would condone such a horrible and unnatural sexual act, as the Bible obviously does.

A situation has come up--someone needs help, and they need it fast.

You have a way to help them. This will take an hour of your time, and will cost you, oh, let's say $20 or the equivalent (i.e., gas money, giving them something, etc.) This will, however, inconvenience your daily life in a somewhat significant way--you may be late for work, or you may have to get someone else to pick the kids up from the bus, so on.

You can also pray for them instead, without doing anything.

Which would you do?

I'm talking specifically about dealing with people in the church or other Christians in your life who repeatedly live in sin. How do you walk that line between judging them and discouraging their bad habits?
