Matthew 16:18: And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

In my quest for a church home I ended up at a independent, fundamental baptist church. It differs from the churches I grew up in as they use the term "soul winning" and "visitation"; are much more prone to talk about "the old fashioned days" and genereally use the term "old fashioned"; use only the King James Bible; and the women wear only skirts. Now I know that the differences must be deeper and more theological than the ones I have listed. I have always called myself an evangelical and have attended churches in the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Assemblies of God, Evangelical Free Church of America and independent Charismatic movement. I also attended Moody Bible Institute. I love this church, love the people, love the pastoral staff, but wonder if I can call myself an independent fundamental baptist. Thanks.

WATCHER

I had a dream I was driving a car really fast and being chased. But I stopped just in time before going over the cliff. The other car didn't. I didn't know the cliff was there I just stopped before going over. I heard a voice to stop, I didn't see anyone. I just stopped. Lately, I have been dreaming of luxury trucks, big houses, and an enormous bank account. I want to believe that my prayers are being answered but I just want others opinion. What does this all mean?

John the Baptist explained why he was preparing the way for Jesus Christ by quoting the words of Isaiah, "Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God" (Isa. 40:3). The New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses puts it, "Clear up the way of Jehovah…"

Matthew shows how John fulfilled this prophecy by preparing the way of Jesus Christ (3:3, 11-17).

The book of Mark begins with the announcement that God was sending John the Baptist to prepare the way of Jesus Christ saying, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight" (Mark 1:1-3). The New World Translation: "Prepare the way of Jehovah, you people, make his roads straight…" John the Baptist, in preparing the way of Christ fulfilled this prophecy. He prepared the way of Jehovah because Jehovah is Jesus Christ come in the flesh.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand
slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance.

If the Bible is true and secure in its history, what threat does a movie make?

People often contend that when pushed to the limit, people will get desperate, and suddenly turn to god in desperation, that the sudden and present danger will give them faith they previously lacked.
I doubt this is true in the first place, but that is not the point of the question.
Have you ever noticed how both the religious and non-religious, with a few exceptions, seem to cling so desperately to life?
Even the religious usually panic when it comes down to the line, in spite of their promises of eternal life in heaven.
It seems to me that shellshock can make a person lose their faith more easily than it can make them find it.

I suppose you will disagree with it, Saddam Hussein was like a hero to you wasn't he? After all he shouted out Allahu Akbar when his sentence was read out, just like muslims shout out Allahu Akbar when they murder non-believers.
