Good question. Made me think. Jesus brought with him the spirit of the laws of how mankind should live, not the word of the law. He wasn't atheist but in a way you could say he was more human-oriented than any of the prophets before him.
He said himself that he did not come to undo the law and the prophets, yet the simple philosophy of doing to your neighbor what you would have him do to you was enough to change the Jewish customs dramatically into Christianity.
He wasn't atheist, but I think you mean that his teachings work outside the context of religion. He advocated doing what makes sense no matter what the law said. He healed on the sabbath, he drank wine, he taught people who were not Jews the same as people who were. He was a revolutionary. I can see how one could ask this question.

Jesus was *is* Jewish. He taught in the temple. He was found among the priests in the temple. He came to fulfill God's laws to the Israelites not to change them. God brought His Son to the earth as one of His Chosen people... A Jew. And Jesus IS GOD in the flesh. He (Jesus) was there at the beginning of time and will be when every knee bows down and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is LORD

Jesus (PBUH) had given this message in his prayer on the cross (The Psalm 22)
“Praise the Lord, you servants of the Lord
Honour the Lord,
You descendants of Jacob
Worship the Lord, you people of Israel.”
(The Psalm 22:23)
It means that praise is meant for the Lord alone. And___ to honour the Lord means to obey the Lord in terms of the Lord’s Commandments and to worship the Lord means to seek help and refuge from the Lord as the Lord is the Omnipotent-Protector alone. And___ that is the sole purpose of human life.
Jesus was a man and Messenger of the Lord. Who, practically preached the Message of Monotheism, even on the cross.
According to Jesus, God, the Holy One; is the Saviour of the Whole mankind. God is capable (be God glorified as God is) to relive off every infliction. None of the human beings is saviour beside God. Jesus, himself is also, not a saviour at all. The people who have chosen him as their saviour__ they have denied the Holy One___ who alone is the saviour of Jesus and whole mankind and the act of choosing Jesus as saviour__ is equal to hate the Holy One___ as it is clearly written in the old Testament:-
“I am the Lord your God. Worship no God but Me. Do not make for yourself images of anything in heavens or on earth or in the water under the earth. Do not bow down to any idol or worship it. Because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me, on their descendants, down to third and fourth generation.”
(Exodus 20:1-5)
Through out his life Jesus preached the message of Monotheism , belief in the One Alone God and established the Soverengity of the One Alone God. Followers of Jesus should follow the teachings of Jesus and resort to the honour, worship and service of the One God Alone.

This can not be known for sure, it can not even be proven if he even existed, but if you were to take what is said in the Bible as truth, then no this charterer out of the Bible was not an Atheist, nor was he a Christian.

Jesus was manipulated into a religion in which he was forced to die. He was manipulated by God to believeing that he was his his son and he fell into a supposed righteousness. By doing this, Jesus sealed the fate of those who chose life. Christians kill themselves by following the ideals within the Bible. God only wishes to control, whatever the opinions are he only wishes for power. He is not above us in any way unless we allow him to be.
By our belief in the purge of our sins we become careless, weak and stupified to our threat. We must unite against Christ and his "father" to save any hope of true life ever existing again.

If he was, I've never heard of it. It would not be an unreasonable conclusion considering how his life ended. That kind of thing would make me question the existence of God.
