recipient? Please, only just for a while, don't use the Bible for the answer. Because other faiths will definitely not agree with the answer. But if your answer would come from your own investigation and make that explanation convincingly I think other faiths might listen approvingly. In my opinion, that's the best way to make yourself believable than cut and paste/babbling.

If I feel God personally and have a open conversation with Him. What purpose does/should religion have to me ? Isn't religion all about the lack of feeling God ?

This is a CLASSIC example of the "double standard bearers" of
the Neo-Con Fascist Oh-So-Holy-And-Righteous "Con"-servative
Right who want to take over this country and shove THEIR
partiarkal Jesus-god down our throats, commanding US to behave
in what THEY consider "moral" fashion, and to "pray" and "obey"
their vengeful, bloodthirsty Jehovah/Jesus god and his "chosen
leaders" by rejecting everything that makes us human -
compassion for the poor and the sick, tolerance and kindness to
"strangers" who are "different," natural curiosity about other
peoples, their customs and gods as well as the natural and
Unseen world, and the ability to laugh and love who we choose in
ways that are comfortable and natural for US as individuals.

Ted Haggard abruptly resigned from his position as president of

You wouldnt buy a new car without a test drive, buy a new house without seeing it or get married without dating. Why not test various religions to see which suits?

one of my classmates told me she saw what she thought was a listing for a Zoroastrian "church" of some kind in my area. I just can't imagine this being the case, since I don't think there's any Zoroastrians in my area. Perhaps I'm wrong.

The area in question would be near the Pittsburgh area.

Mu aunt & uncle are long timd members of thePresbyterian Church. They were both very active. My uncle was an Elder and taught for many years. He passed away in October and my aunt told us that on Sunday, November 5th, he is to be honored as a saint. I had never heard of this and am interested in knowing more about this topic.

like it rained for 40 days and 40 nights in the time of the flood of Noah.
The Israelites were lost 40 years in the wilderness.
Jesus fasted and was tempted by the devil for 40 days in the wilderness.
Johnah was in the belly of the whale or fish for 3 days
Jesus was in the belly of the earth for 3 days
and three is also the number of the Trinity the Father The Son and The Holy Spirit.
Dpo you know of any other events in the Bible that are like this.

I had at least 5 different near-death experiences in my 24 yrs of life and luckily survived from each of them. Whether it is the will of Heaven or pure luck, I can't say for sure.
From what I have seen or read in my life, I have seen so many people, many of them young who died from terminal illnesses, car accident, heart attacks, etc. And the sad thing is many of them were young, contributing, productive citizens.
My life has been marred with severe depression and lust problem but God is keeping me alive through all the ordeals. Yet, people who had so many good things going in their life and had bright future die unfortunately from the causes listed above.
What is the purpose of all these things happening the way it works? Good, contributing, difference-maker citizens should be rewarded by living a long life to do more good to society, right?

I'm not referring to ALL of the people in each group. Here goes..
To Atheists: Why the need to get on here to trash someone's belief in God or the Bible if they haven't tried to force their religion on you? Couldn't it be a good thing that a person has something to believe in that helps them live a good life? And why do some of the Atheists seem to detest even the most simple religious gestures so much that you fight to have them removed, like "Under God" in the pledge for example. Can't you just not say it and move on? The Christians are exercising their right to say it, and you're exercising yours not to. Isn't that fair?
To Christians: Why the need to come down on both Atheists and members of other religions. As stated above, if these people have something to believe in that's not satanic or evil in some way, why bash it? Why the constant arguing over whose religion is the "right" one? No person alive now lived on this earth during biblical times, so no one really knows.

Not in a general sense. Not that Stephen Hawking being a 'deep thinker' in astrophysics translates to him having deep feelings about art for example. But wouldn't you say him thinking deeply about the universe allows him to feel more deeply about it?

Do we need to think deeply about a subject to really feel deeply about it?

Buddha was a slim strong looking and sounding individual in the Indian stories. Now how come the Asian version of Buddha is very large and fat and ungraceful but jolly. How did this happen? It's very unlogical, Buddha did alot of walking all around India and begged for food which meant that he never recieved a huge amount or gorged himself or asked for more than his fill. I know Buddhism isn't as popular in India as it once was but how did he transform into this huge jolly man in it's transition to other parts of Asia. For a character which represents balance the east asian version looks nothing like it. So, please tell me how did Buddha become so fat???
