"Contentious"
Contentiousness is a spiritual vice.
People subject to that are not interested in the truth, but only in holding the contrary to what the other person says or thinks.
It is a vice because it is an affirmation of oneself over the objective good, true, and beautiful.

lol a sinner, people only argue out of anger, or because they feel they know it all. The truth is the truth no matter how you slice it, it will still be true,
Eph 4:26-32
26And "don't sin by letting anger gain control over you." Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27for anger gives a mighty foothold to the Devil.
28If you are a thief, stop stealing. Begin using your hands for honest work, and then give generously to others in need.
29Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
30And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he is the one who has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior.
32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
(NLT)

I could make a very bad joke here....
"Protest"ants. (Apologies to any non-Catholic Christian who's offended.)
But I wonder if you might be thinking of the philosophical concept (?) of sophism; suggest looking up the Wikipedia link and seeing if that fits.
Good luck running down this concept; now you've got ME wondering "what the heck could that word be?"

While some see it white others see it black. No one perceives the same.

in our house we call it bible bashing, though I'm sure there are probly a few better words for it. I generally like to call them idiots though.
