The reason for this is that back in the days when the Bible was written, the only numbers that existed were 3, 40, and 10. Later they came up with 12, and then just before Revelations, 4 was invented.

They had lots of problems with 3, and kept getting it mixed up with 1.

Of course when we atheists got together with Islam and invented 0, things were pretty much over for Christian arithmetic.

There are Christian books written on the subject which I can't Quote you and only Intended to get & read, but They Do Exist!
I notice it all the time,
I have heard..
#7 is the # of God
#6 is the # of man
#8 is the # of completeness

but heres my story.... THE STORY OF 23
my Maturnal Grand's were married Feb. 23. Swore I'd be born that day....I was. My First Husband was born Oct 23 and our First Son...May 23. It Escalated from there. At one point I thought I really needed help it Haunted me, persued me.( My Pastors said tape the last digit on my clocks, which I eventually did) But what I never realized ( and when I finally did--it stopped) was that 100 or $1.00 or 100% whatever (we see it as the whole)
take away God 7 or 77 (or 777??) you had 23 or 223 (my birthdate) as a remainder.Or Vice Versa ..Remove 23.... and you have the # of God!! God spoketo me Audibly ONE TIME ONLY.(20 yrs ago) He simply said...."I want you to die for me!" I tried to do it "Then & There". He's probably still laughing, and I am still figuring out what he meant!! But I conclude that 23 is "self" and for me...223 is "myself"!!------ 2+2+3=7 ??????
Do You think this is crazy?? Anyways,, I have an interest in the subject and GOD USES #'s in a big way and there are well respected Christians who've researched it out & I wouldn't attempt to answer more specifically than that.

Sure. Six is the number of a man. Three sixes is man trying to make himself a God. Seven is the number of completion. Hence, seven days to a week. Ten is judgement. Twelve is interesting too. 12 tribes, 12 gates to Jerusalem, 12 Apostles. Incidentally, 12 is the largest number of close friends you can have in a group. A quirk of the human mind. There are sites that go into this if you are interested. Google Christian Numerology.

Numerology has been used by many people many times to try to find something "special", "hidden" or "mystical" about writings.

A Jewish sect did this. A Christian sect or two did it.

In fact, Muslims do it as an attempt to validate the qu'ran.

Sometimes it's just coincidence. Sometimes (like the qu'ran) it's an attempt to confuse an invented religion with reality.
