Jesus' death was compared to a sacrifice by Paul and other disciples. Succeeding generations took it very literally, and created a mountain of beliefs upon it.
Jesus himself proclaimed a Good News. That had no mention of his death or sacrifice. Unfortunately, Christianity has been proclaiming a Good News for two millennia that has nothing to do with the Good News proclaimed by Jesus.

That's like saying answer an algebra problem without first learning how to from the text book. Is this a trick question? Where do people learn about Jesus if not from the Bible? Only God can tell you why and God's word is the bible. Jesus Christ is the word made flesh, he is the example of God and how he wants us to live. To follow him takes strong faith and obedience, Jesus was obedient to the end he died for us that our sins may be forgiven. Through faith we believe, and through faith I am willing to love the way he loved, and give they way he gave. If not for the spirit of Jesus Christ that lives in me I would not know the true meaning of loving unconditionally, and being obedient, or to be humble enough to look past what people appear to be on the outside, and seeking to love what they are on the inside.

your question/ rules don't make sense, in order to NOT use the Bible/ knowledge of it as a reference, then the only way to know this would be to have died, resurrected, etc.
Therefore the only person who could answer would be Jesus, since no one else has been resurrected !
If you are only talking about the goofballs on here who cut/ paste everything from websites, please forget the paragraph above.
Ok, by Jesus dying, he erased our original sin that we are born with- from Adam's sin, since we are all his descendants. He also sacrificed all He had for God !
Jesus' LIFE shows us the path to God, if we can follow it, study, learn from it, we will succeed. - I think His life example is SO much more significant.

basically, we are sinners, and the punishment for sin is death. nothing we can do can make us good enough to not deserve death, because we have all done something wrong, no matter how big or small. all sin deserves death. basically, Jesus came to earth and lived the perfect life that we couldn't, and then He died so that we could live. He took our punishment, but He couldn't do that unless He had lived a perfect and blameless life. if He had commited one sin, then His sacrifice would have counted for nothing. He went through all the temptations that you and i do, but He stayed perfect and was without sin. i hope this explains what you wanted.

Jesus' death saved us because when Adam sinned he lost his perfection and passed it on to us, so back in the days when a man sins he would have to sacrifice a pure like a healthy animal so that God could forgive his sins, so instead of doing that god allowed his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for our sin, Jesus made up for what Adam lost for us which was the gift of perfection...so in other words it was like a deal, Adam lost his perfection and us coming from Adam also loses that gift so someone perfect had to be sacrificed in order for our sins to be forgiven which was Jesus... they call him the Ransomer Chrsit Jesus because the deal was called Ransom.

I'm sorry, but if someone else doesn't agree with me, then all well. If I am to answer a question from a Christian perspective, then how could I expect, say, a Muslim or an atheist to agree with me anyway? That said, I can and probably will quote the Bible as I answer this question. If someone is offended, or regards this question as "babble", then ah well! All I can do is tell the Truth. If it offends people, then they should try to change themselves, not the Truth! Just because that I don't like it when I fall doesn't mean I should try to somehow twist the law of gravity! That would be absurd! In the same sense, just because the Bible declares,
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
does not mean that people who are offended should try to ignore that! Romans 3:23 is a truth, but here is another one:
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death...
Now who likes that? They are simply born, and are already headed to a sinful life? But since we are talking about Truth, and mentioning the Bible, the Bible is not simple a book that tells a sad story! No! The Bible is God breathed (2 Timothy 3:16), and God is love! (1 John 4:8). Thus, the message of the Bible is one of love! What is that message?
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus Christ came to earth to suffer the pain for sin--my sin, your sin. And you or I cannot say that we are without sin, for:
1 John 1:8
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
We are sinful! Have you not ever told a lie, stole something, been deceiving, lustful, ect? Those are sins! Sin separates us from God, our Creator! Thus, when we die, we cannot, as unsaved sinners, go to be with Him! So where would we go? Hell! A real place of eternal torment, pain, and darkness. Not somewhere anyone in their right mind would want to go. Oh, sure, we can joke about it. But that doesn't keep it from being real, though the reality of it may be clouded for some of us. We are sinners, and if we are not saved, we go to Hell! Now how would that be for a life? Hopeless! But God loves us, and so He provided a way for us to truly live. Christ Jesus came and suffered for me, you, and anyone else reading this! He wants you and I to know Him that we may be saved! Christ's cross is where Christians kill their own sinful nature, that Christ may live in us! We are "brainwashed", one might say. We are washed by Christ! He forgives us, and we are free! It's as simple as that! Amazing grace!
Acts 2:21
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I hope that this may help you; God bless!
Apologies for making that so long; for those of you who still don't want to read the verses, here it is in short: We are sinners, but God loves us, and made a way through Christ Jesus for us to be forgiven freely!

Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. Without that, the whole world would be corrupted with sin, and therefore there may have to be another great flood. But since Jesus died for us and lets us choose to follow Him, He gives us the gift of repentance (He allows us to repent, and He accepts it), which means that Christians who truely follow Him will not go to hell.

You know that scene in the movie "What Dreams may come" where Robin Williams tries so hard to get his wife out of hell? She later asks him HOW he did that...and he said he finally decided to JOIN her in her despair.
This is how Jesus' death saves us...we JOIN HIM in His death. We follow Him into the grave by faith that what we are doing is allowing Him to change us spiritually, in a way we cannot see, cannot feel, cannot entirely understand. We merely JOIN Him in death (this is baptism by immersion for remission of sins) and know that whatever happened to HIM when He went into the grave, which caused Him to resurrect, it will happen to us also.

Jesus Christ didn't have to die. He had the power to stop it, but he chose not to, because when HE was being crucified, he took on all of our sins on his soul. HE gave us the opportunity to have our afterlife be in heaven rather in hell. I totally believe this because HE's the only person I know of that was able to die and rise from the dead. Good luck with whatever it is your looking for and God Bless You!

No, befor I got Saved, I was Taught about Jesus and I mentally Agreed that HE was real.
Until I was About Dead, and Called out on HIM, I did not BELIEVE HE was Real. After I called out and my Spirit was RECREATED, I KNEW that I KNEW that I Knew that HE was REAL.
Started Learning Spiritual Stuff and I Still cannot Explain all that Jesus ACCOMPLISHED when HE Died on the Cross for us.
