How come Muslims don't eat Pork? is it because the pig is considered dirty, or is it worshipped or something?

The November issue of Wired magazine has on its cover "The New Atheism...No Heaven. No Hell. Just Science. Inside the Crusade Against Religioin".

I found it a bit strange for that subject to be covered by a tech mag, but it was very interesting. They had articles about Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Greg Graffin (a punk rocker who writes songs about atheism), Daniel Dennett, Penn & Teller, and Warren Allen Smith who are considered the new faces of atheism. I thought it was a very interesting read, so I thought I would point that out.

We can not see it (only the effects of it),or smell it or touch it(only the energy it left behind when it shocks us or puts our hair at end). And we have faith everyday that it will do its thing and help with technology and other science stuff.
So my question is..How do we know that it exists?

There are a lot of benefits to believing in God. A moral code, a social network, the comfort of prayer, a plan for your life, eternal life. Of these things, which would be the hardest to let go of.

And I know I'm going to get a lot of "NOTHING BECAUSE HE'S REALLLLLL" answers. But, this is hypothetical.

Roll with it.

Nothing irritates me more than someone who writes or says " God Bless" To me it suggests insincerity and that you view your religion as a trend because so many people never add the YOU at the end. .
Try it: God Bless YOU. It packs a more powerful meaning, doesn't it?

if, hypothetically, you had been born without vision at all. your eyes entirely non-functional.

for you, in that situation, the existance of color would be something you would be 100% incapable of perceiving.

thus, would you believe it existed, because so many others told you it did, and you just couldn't see it, or would you insist that it did not exist?

what if you, and say, 8 other similar people were in a room with 1 sighted person. would color then be a delusion for that 1 person?

and to turn it around, if you were the 1 sighted person in a room full of people who were born without vision, would you doubt that the color you could percieve, was real, because you were in the minority? or would you have enough confidence (faith?) in your own perceptive capability, to know that you saw it, even if the others around you could not.

when we pray, is it the exact words we use that is important, or is it rather the content? do we have to use words at all in prayer? It seems to me that if the words are important, then isnt prayer similar to Wiccan studies?

I do. I really believe in it and practice it literally. But it seems I get a lot of criticism and rejection for just doing what Jesus would have done.

The fact that we have little choice in selecting our religion make it funny that people think that their religion is superior to others.

What I mean is:

If free will is real, then god cannot force us to make any particular decision (and in fact, this is something I've been told more than once on this board).

But: If god cannot order everything -- including our decisions -- according to his will, then this means that god is not all-powerful. And if god is not all-powerful, then he is not god.

I wrote last night about a question reffering to the Bible and how we know it is truth. However, what I was really looking for were Bible scriptures of prophesies that have come true (ie. jesus born in bethlehem to a virgin etc.) But I was also looking for scriptures that correspond with today in the world.
I have not read the whole bible yet and I am not sure where it is I should look. Please help me. It is for a youth sermon in a couple of weeks. Thank you.
If you are going to answer I would prefer that you actually give me information I could use. If you don't think the Bible is true then don't answer. Thank you for your time. =)
