Satan is definitely poison,However He did not take the form of a snake.God cursed him to crawl on his belly and eat dirt all his life.

Satan never took on the form of a snake. In the Garden of Eden, he used a snake that was already there the way a ventriloquist uses a dummy to deceive Eve. He did not become the snake.

That is the story the bible tells us, and I do not think it specifies what kind of snake it was. Nowadays snakes are considered valuable creatures of nature.
