when we pray, is it the exact words we use that is important, or is it rather the content? do we have to use words at all in prayer? It seems to me that if the words are important, then isnt prayer similar to Wiccan studies?

Formalized prayer is based on the same principle as Wiccan spells, as are chants and mantras. The words are a focus for the mind to help concentrate your inner self and energies to focus on a goal. Cabalistic magic (Bible based "white" magic usually) uses formulated prayer also.

God SPOKE, and everything came into being. Jesus is
called the WORD.
SOUND is a spiritual power.
They say words that have been use for 1000s of years have power.
But using a language from a country in another country might
not work so good, I'm told. Better to use the language that was
common to that country.
Myself, I use Christian magic. The only words of Power you
need to know are those of the GODHEAD, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, which all other powers obey.
But like anything, you have to use it a little, and build some faith
in it before it will actually work!
Jesus said if you tell a mountain to move, and DO NOT DOUBT,
it will move!
A mountain is symbolic of an OBSTACLE in your way.

Not magic words because it has to come from the heart. Yes, you do come in Jesus name, but you don't have to say the words every time, because if you are already his, you come in his name anyway. God knows who belongs to him. God knows you completely, and Jesus said your Heavenly Father knows what you need. He also said you don't need to say many words. (Matthew 6:verses5-15 on prayer.) Imagine what kind of relationship you would have if you never talked! There would be no build up of love and trust, no exciting discovery of each others hearts. I have learnt a lot about God and his character in the past few months and I have learnt how much he values complete honesty. There is no such thing as being a bad prayer. The only bad prayer is when we don't do it at all. God delights in his kids and just loves the fact that they show up to talk to him.

I get an e-newsletter from Sheila Walsh and Women of Faith and this a quote from one of them:
"Every sound we utter, every thank-you we say, every tear we cry in God's presence is prayer."

The words are not the important thing, but the relationship. It is your relationship to God that determines God's response to you. James 5:6 says "The effective fervant prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." It is the righteousnes of the man that God sees and brings the response. James also says, "6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord." Instability in your christian walk limits your strength in prayer. Jesus said if you come in prayer and your brother has something against you, get up, Go and get reconciled to your brother first and then come and present your prayer.
A right relationship to God is essential for strength in prayer.

IMO, the actual words are not *GENERALLY* all that important, in the extreme majority of cases.

but that sometimes, the specific word structure DOES matter,

and that SOMETIMES, like with witchcraft-style spellcraft, the words are signifigant because of the ritual effect they have in focusing the will.

I mean if you train your mind through practice, to shift "modes" and focus when you do or hear certain combinations of words or actions, then those could be very important.

Prayer and Spellwork have alot more in common than most want to admit.

>>"The key words are In Jesus' name. Meaning that after a sincere prayer; you should ask God in Jesus' name. Everything you do ask in Jesus' name; that is how God know hows you belong to him."<<

see, that just doesn't make sense. ... as if God wouldn't know everything about you anyway? as if your not good enough to pray to him directly? saying that just doesn't make sense.

I dont think its the words that matter it,s how much you mean them ,are you saying the words or do you really in your heart of hearts mean them , i m saying this because i have prayed for years and well lets say He was a little less than forth coming , but one day when i thought that was it ,theres no point in living anymore ,all hope seemed gone , there seemed just one answer to solve my problem when out of the blue ,help arrived and i have thanked God every day ,He does nt let you down ,so its sincerity that matters

every person can pray in their own way yet there are certain times when others are present when there may be more " power " to a prayer than normal. I had this happen on a very personal basis and the answer proved to me there is life beyond this plane of existence

30 Years ago when i had no confidence i prayed for a little girl who was loosing her sight, they had told her mum there was nothing they could do. My prayers where answered and she got her sight back. I am a great believer in the power of prayer to heal the sick and it has worked many times after that.I take no credit as i was just sending my love and it worked.

Prayer is not a "word" thing in context or content, it is about the relationship you have with the Father of All Mankind, the Heavenly Father, The Father of our LORD Jesus Christ. Their is also attitude, love, faith, joy, in prayer, groanings and utterances that the spirit in man or woman, speaks to the Holy Spirit whom we are born of the Spirit, makes known to God what we are trying to say to God,

Prayer is multifaceted and in the Holy Bible it carries alot of meaning other than just "words" or getting the exact words perfectly with the perfect resonance or stress of syllables. Prayer is comming in "holy communion" with God! It is coming into His presence with thanksgiving, praise, adoration and love. Prayer is coming to the King of Kings to the Holy One of Israel, to enter the Holy of Holies and knowing that by the grace of God's One and Only Son, you are born again, born of God born of the Spirit washed regenerated to stand in the audience of The God of Heaven and Earth, and to felel no shame or fear, but a heartfelt joyful return to the Father.

no the words aren't important, it's what is in your heart that god is really listening to. Praying is nothing magical, it's just having a conversation with god, like he is standing next to you.
