I see a lot of people say it is a sin to act out on lust. so if your child or yourself was a teen ager going through hormonal changes and gets to the boyfriend and girlfriend stage and your child wants to date because he or she is attracted to a person of the opposite sex so they act on the attraction and kiss each other, would you think that would be sinning? What happens if you found out your child had sex before marriage would you be upset? No matter how well you teach your kids things can happen but i just want your opinion and i am not trying to offend anyone i am just curious your thoughts on this.

I was raised a roman catholic, and in 1997 she out of the blue took me to a temple and told me I was jewish? I rebelled against it. She keeps on telling me that it's ethnic not a religon.Iraseli is an ethnic not just being jewish. I have two children and I have to go to a non denominational church, because if I don't she won't let me live it down. I would like to go to a baptist church, but she will not speak to me. My mom made me go to jewish sunday school and learn hebrew when I didn't want to. I can see now that she is being wrong and how do I go about telling her that I will be stuck in my ways. My mom was born in Spain and my dad is Italian. When I used to put what my ethnic was I would pick Hispanic and she said I had to put jewish down, but being jewish is a religon I keep on telling her. She wants my children to have a jewish name and go to sunday school, but my husband and I refuse. She keeps on telling me I am jewish, when I am not. If I am so jewish why was I baptisted?

for people to get along better if they just had a better understanding of each others beliefs?
i am not saying anyone would have to convert or even agree with those beliefs but only understood them better.

"If a man shall smite you on the cheek, then offer him the other". I think not. I'm more likely evade or block the attack, if possible and then either run or fight back. What altruistic benefit is there to be derived form allowing another to abuse me? Perhaps theres more implied in this verse than seems immedietly obvious. I could turn my body 180 degrees offering the other cheek followed by a back kick or some other technichue before he actually gets a chance to hit it. The bible doesn't actually say this. Then again it doesn't say not to.

What would you say to the man if one day you walked around the corner and came face to face with him.

If in a few seconds you had a chance to make any impression on him, would you pat him on the back, wash his feet, convince him of his delusions or even attempt to lead him to salvation and repentance in Christ.

Are you up for it?

a lot of things I don't understand.
Ok in Isaiah ch 55 vs 7. The Bible mentions that when you are saved that you should put away all your wickedness, right?
So does that mean, to do it right away? For example those that hooked on cigarettes can't just up and quit overnight because of withdrawl symptoms. and the same with people hooked on perscription drugs ect.
So here's where I'm stuck. When God saves you he does it immediatley right? So when you change your ways, does the Bible say you are to do it right away - all at once?
I know many of you are way more knowledeable and way more studied than I am.

In a recent Q about theology and research, myavatar said she'd got a leaflet saying if there were more Jehovah's Witnesses the Holocaust wouldn't have happened (which struck her as unscholarly). But in fairness to the JWs I think it might have been saying that, because all JWs are conscientious objectors to war, if everybody had been like them, there wouldn't have been a war (hence, no Holocaust). I have never seen this leaflet, though. New System Lady asked us to check the latest tract they're distributing world wide. Is this the same leaflet?

If my guess is correct, there's a problem. The theory looks good until we realise that JWs say the final war of Armageddon is about to erupt and only good JWs can reasonably hope to survive it. So if 7 million baptised JWs survive (give or take a few million) that means BILLIONS of people will die a horrible death. Puts the Holocaust in the shade. I'm all for pacifism and won't knock the JWs for that, but can't they see the problem?

Take a look at this video, from a major mideastern telivision show. At a mere 3 and a half years of age, young Basmallah already knows the Jews are apes and pigs and that Muhammad was strong enough to kill his enemies. At least she understands Islam better than President Bush.

Simple research will show that the virgin birth is a common religious metaphor that is meant to symbolize the enlightenment experience (Jesus and Buddha were metaphorically described as having a virgin birth). Why do people react so negatively to this?

do you think its lazy or rude to expect people to read and respond and you don't reply or resolve? When someone says it left to the voters doesn't that seem like a cop out for others doing your work. It also makes one wonder if you are even interested in what they say or only what you have to say

Let's have a look at some of the christian areas in the world and see why they are christian.

Europe

Christianity becomes entrenched as part of European culture as a result of Constantine's wishes.

Africa

European christians invade Africa, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

North America / Australia

European christians invade, steal land from the native population, nearly wipe out the native population and then come in such droves as to come to completely dominate the area after several generation.

Central America / South America / Phillipines

European christians invade, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

The spread of christianity worldwide doesn't quite seem as glorious now does it ?

Islam doesn't fare much better.

Why claim that Einstein was deeply religious when this is simply false. is your argument so weak that you must resort to lies.

Why have these people ignored what Einstein himself had to say :

A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death. [Albert Einstein, Religion and Science, New York Times Magazine, 9 November 1930]

It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. [Albert Einstein, 1954, from Albert Einstein: The Human Side]
