In part two, "The Virus of Faith," Dawkins attacks the teaching of religion to children, calling it child abuse.

"Innocent children are being saddled with demonstrable falsehoods," he says. "It's time to question the abuse of childhood innocence with superstitious ideas of hellfire and damnation. Isn't it weird the way we automatically label a tiny child with its parents' religion?"

"Sectarian religious schools," Dawkins asserts, have been "deeply damaging" to generations of children.

Dawkins, who makes no effort to disguise his atheism and contempt for religion, focuses on the Bible, too.

"The God of the Old Testament has got to be the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous, and proud of it, petty, vindictive, unjust, unforgiving, racist," he says. Dawkins then criticizes Abraham, compares Moses to Hitler and Saddam Hussein, and calls the New Testament "St Paul's nasty, sado-masochistic doctrine of atonement for original sin."

For me it's a warm, happy feeling.

What reminds you of God's presence?
is it a feeling or a scripture passage for you?

Catfish are scavengers. They are bottom feeders that eat anything and everything. Muslims wont eat pigs for this exact same reason. Catfish are known to have the highest levels of toxins in their tissues than any other fish.

Can't someone find a verse from the Koran that can support some kind of "scientific miracle" revelation so that catfish can be considered haram? Some people seem to be very good at taking verses from the Koran and twisting them to fit modern science, and when they do, Muslims automatically accept it.

How long do you think it will be before catfish are properly labeled as haram and considered forbidden?

We have to vote next month. There is no room for religion in our laws and we have to stand up to the religious right. They will not accept the separation of church and state. We can get our democracy back and stamp out theocracy but we have to vote to do it. Who is with me

Satan and his minions? Should there be laws against this kind of thing? We could do away with whole books of law, make just the one rule, doing something under the influence of Satan and his minions. Instead of DUI it would be DUISM, Driving Under the Influence of Satan and his Minions. Shoplifting would be SUISM etc.
What could we do if they won't confess?

Why is it the most accurate bible?
If so, why dont other religions use it.(correct me if iam wrong)

Is there any reputable scholar endorsments and secondary ones?

Besides of restoring Jehovah name, why is there other changes in scripture, when reputable scholars Qoute its not a correct tranlation: For example, 1 john 1:3 through him all things were made NIV.
NWT; through him all [other] things were mad.
If you remove other it would mean that Jesus is GOD. Because GOD created everthing. But that would be wrong in Jw doctrine so it has be change.
Also John 1:1 which i know you know.

These are just some off my mind.

So out all the religions and scholars only one religion uses
the NWT.

In a respectful way, most of your doctrine is worthless with out the NWT.
I guess that is why they say it is the most accurate so you dont use another. Could this be a trap?

i might not have all the info, but please let me in.

ok folks. not one of you answered my question. you said the forbbiden tree, now he told the truth there, they DID gain knowledge of right and wrong and they DID NOT die from it, they died much much later. that was hardly a lie.
temptation in the desert: feeding a man whos wandering a desert for some 40 days is hardly evil? nor is it a lie?
tempting jesus with power: he told jesus that if he turned from god satan would give him powers, prove to me this is a lie, as jesus did not turn away from god, satan could have given him certain powers?

now again, please QUOTE a scripture that shows the devil in the ACT OF LYING, not a quote that says gthe devil is deciever, i want a direct quote of satan speaking a direct lie.

Do you believe that the Republicans or Democrats are better at supporting family values?

Keep in mind that for the last 60 years, the Reps have invested more in war while the Dems have invested more in domestic programs, and for the last 30 years, the Reps have driven up the national debt while the Dems have driven it down (which directly effects the value of your money).

I'd like to gain a better understanding of why family values are considered a Rep party thing when the it's the other party that puts taxes into services directed to families. Can you enlighten me?

With the destruction of Jerusalem, I imagine a rapture of all the Jewish Christians could have occurred and been missed by history. If not, then what happened to the Jewish Christians? And why were some angry about the idea of non-Jews becoming Christians? In Paul's speech in Acts, he talks all about his conversion and meeting the ressurected Christ without interuption, but when he mentions he has been called as a missionary to "the gentiles" everyone is ready to kill him again.

In our time, to love our neighbour is something difficult to do; to love her selflessly is perhaps impossible, why all the religions keep on stressing this principle? How do the believer put it into practice? Because of some selfish gain or because of any higher reason?

Atheists like to contend that organized religion is the root of all problems today, and that only they are the enlightened 5% of the people. If that's true, how come atheists aren't doing anything about it? When was the last time someone knocked on your door and asked "Have you ever heard of this new sweeping sensation of thought known as SCIENCE!?" There are sociol movements to elimenate druck driving, gambling, abortion, drug use and fornication, but atheists don't seem bothered to make an organized resistance to organized religion.

I suppose it's just wishful thinking that perhaps we wont have to see another Hitler in the future. But WW2 does seem to be a turning point in other ways. I think the Dead Sea scrolls were found in 47 or 48, and Israel was re-estblished as a nation at the same time. And their survival seems to be a little miraculous.

I have a morbid memory (from about 12 years ago) and I don't know if Its a false memory or what. After my grandfather passed away I was in shock and despair. I remember being at my grandmothers house and picking up and bible. I remember thinking to myself (and talking to the lord in my mind) that if I flip through the bible and let my finger land on some verse (any verse) that god might offer me some comfort through that verse. So I flipped the pages and let my finger land on one verse. When I read it, it said something like "go on with thy life and not worry of your deceased relative for they are in hell now and forgotten in the eyes of the lord". This has really bothered me all these years but now as I think back I'm not sure if thats exactly what it said or if my mind was so freaked out and sad at the time that I had produced a false memory. Can anyone help me with this. Is this verse (or something similar to it) in the bible?
