This is a term used in a paper I'm writing that I don't really understand. It should have to do with Chritian (Catholic) perception of God, and Jesus from 12th to 15th centuries.

Aren't we all guilty of wearing a mask sometimes. We have many different faces that we show the world.

There's the face we show our family, is this the true one? Loving and caring, always there when trouble comes knocking at the door.

Or is it the one we show our friends, laughing and joking. Wanting to have a good time.

Maybe it's the one we use at work, sometimes serious, laughing at all the right jokes. Making ourselves look useful when we're actually busy doing nothing.

Or is it the one we keep for ourselves. The one that's full of doubt, hopes and dreams. Looking inwards. Trying to make sense of what's going on around us. Frightened about what will happen to our children, our friends, our world.

Then there's the one we show to strangers, aloof and apart. Being careful not to make eye contact in case somebody takes offence.

Do we ever show our true face to the world or do we guard it like a secret in case people see the real us. And realise we are not who we seem to be.

someone in a newspaper wrote today that this is still supposed to be a christian country?

What does this mean and futhermore - how can it be a christian country - if many non-christians live here.

I agree that it may be predominantly christian - but does that make it a christian country?

It is taught and believed by some that the Virgin Mary is the "Mother of God". You may ask how can this be. One of the early church councils had proclaimed this to be a doctrine of faith to be believe by all the church. I wrestle with this question for many years since I am not Roman Catholic. In oder to come to an understanding I first had to recognize that Mary gave birth to a child who is the very Son of God (Divine) and also was very much human. So Jesus Christ is both God and man and in this way Mary is the "Mother of God". By the way I am a Episcolpaian.

Religion breeds fear. Fear breeds hatred. Hatred breeds ignorance.

Please support your opinion with evidence if possible.

Please don't be rude and bad mouth anyone. I simply would like your opinions.

I am not saying this out of anger or judgment. I think from the responses to my earlier question I have possibly been able to understand the difference in the two positions.

The pro life individual wants to protect the rights of the unborn. The pro choice individual wants to protect the rights of the born.

Now the real question is. How do we ever come to consensous on whose rights are premier? There's the rub. Most pro lifers I think would say they believe that God has said the unborn childs rights are premier. Most pro choicers I think would say they believe that the born individual should make that decision.

Not trying to be judgmental and not trying to say all Christians are pro life. Just thinking outloud as to the basis for each argument.

What do you think? Do you agree with my thinking or do you see another rationale? I want to hear from both Christians and non Christians. Both pro lifers and pro choicers.
