I know Adam named all the animals (it says so in the bible), but who decided that God should be called JHWH, Eloi or or whatever?

I see by some of the questions on this board that a fair amount of Christians avoid celebrating Hallowe'en because it being pagan in origin.

Why is then that they celebrate Christmas and Easter despite these two holidays (and the time of year in which they fall) are pagan in origin?

Christmas - Christmas trees, Yule logs, present giving, celebrations at year end in general - all of these stem from pagan festivals such as Yule, the Winter Equinox and Saturnalia.

Easter - celebrated during the Spring Equinox and the name alone stems from Anglo-Saxon mythology, Eostre (pronounced the same way). Many other religions had similar myths to the reserection of Jesus aswell - in Greek mythology Persephone returned from the underworld at the beginning of Spring, Phrygian mythology had an omnipotent deity that went to sleep in at the Winter Equinox and they had festivals at the dawn of Spring to awaken him.

So why do some Christians have a problem with one but not these two?

Do you use the elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, or the elements of Sky, Land, and Water or something else entirely. I am doing research on the different druid groups and what elements they use. Please also let me know if it is okay to use your answers in my research and what name you would like me to use if you agree.

Are we his special science project or what? And when he first put Adam and Eve, did he know they were going to sin? If he did, what the heck was the point and a tad unfair don't ya think?
And isn't it weird that in a different part of the world, someone has a total different view of how we human came about? Who would be right, them or me?

When I say Theology, I mean a generalized study of religion, not just one. I believe there should be a course outlining the general similarities and diffrences between religons. To make it more simple the course should go over: Chrisitanity (protestant and catholic), Islam, Judism, Buddism, and Wicca/Paganism.

Maybe through understanding someone's faith we won't hold any negativity to them just for being of a diffrent faith.

Just my opinon, what is yours?

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had once said that Hajj should be performed only ONCE in one's lifetime.

But I've observed that quite a few Muslims go on pilgrimage to Mecca several times. Why is it so? Some even flaunt their "status" by saying: "I've performed Hajj twice!" Others retort: "Ah! That's nothing Mr. So-and-So has performed Hajj thrice."

One of my friend's relative has performed Hajj 8 (eight) times. People look up to him with awe and admiration. Now, do you as a Muslim think that this is right? Is such a n act justified?

Please enlighten me on this issue.

I've always had trouble meditating, but I've never had any kind of actual instruction. I'm pretty sure that there is more to it than just sitting there. Is there an online source that can teach me step by step how to do it?
