Platonic friendship?Realize that all humans are part animals. We have instincts and basic needs. In the animal kingdom there is a certain attraction put between males amd females of almost every species.Islam is Deen-e-fitrat.Do you know what that means.Find out for yourself.Anyhow being deen-e-fitrat Allah knows our strengths and weaknesses where there is an interaction between a guy and a girl feelings are bound to develop and worse instincts might drive a person towards developing a sexually active relationship after a period of platonic relationship. Its a lie this whole platonic relationship issue is a lie in my opinion,we fool ourselves and others by this means.Unless you have an operation to remove the sexuality within yourself then maybe yes this whole platonic relationship might be true. But every day thousands of families are broken by these so called platonic relationships which start off innocently and then turn ugly and destroy marriages and households. One always fools ones own self and others by saying we are just friends, lies, lies and further lies.It opens the doorway for cheating.Thats exactly the reason if you study Islam in depth you would realize that Allah strictly forbids any friendship outside of the fold of marriage between members of the opposite sex.To maintain a healthy society which flourishes on trust and happiness the institution of marriage is of utmost importance as families are built on this ground and good families are good training for generations and societies. Its the best school for individulas. You cannot change human nature. Therefore the most succesful ideologies are those which recognize the strengths and weaknesses of humans remember exceptions are always there but there is safety in following the rule. Finally Hazrat Muhammad(PBUH),may Allah forgive any mistake, this is the meaning of what I understood look this up too,He said that if two people are together mebers of the opposite sex alone together than the third between them is the devil. It means that obviously when you keep on spending time alone with somebody your animal instincts are bound to kick in and spoil the beauty of the friendship, thats why it is emphasized get married to prevent getting spoiled and develop a platonic relationship with you husband or wife and thus stay true with Allah and with your significant other and with yourself.Close the door on evil.My advice follow the ISlamic rule that marrige should not be postponed or delayed as delay in marriage for both sexes is the primary root for sexual deterioration in society. Many other evils find their way whem memebrs of both sexes procrastinate marriage an early marriage obviously after legal age is the right way to save yourself from temptation and lust, and obviously to facilitate good companionship.

w alikom alslam.
i am a muslim girl and not married , in my view and my family and almost all my country that any relationship with a man (not mahram) it is haram ..
and i am believe on that 100 % . maybe you're see this relationship very pure and Platonic but maybe he didn't .
the women in my view easy to lead and falling in love ,
it is easy to have a boy friend and easy for him to change you when he feel bored .

the best solution is marring .. if he is a good Muslim man he will ask u to not meet him until marriage.

hope that make sense :)

Platonic in English terms....No attachment,is not binding either by words or action..but believe me platonic R/ship today end up having so many harams, and more and even lead to Zina.my advice if u re not married get a good lady that u ll share ur ideas, friendship with her..and if u re married ur husband is ur best bet...Read the Quran it explain it all.Allahu ahlim.good luck.

I am not muslim, i am atheist, but here is what ive seen

From what I have heard, married muslim women dont communicate with any man who is not their husband unless its concerning Islam.
I have seen this on a few of their blog sites.

The muslim girl that comes around our house is not married. And she does not have a problem speaking with males thats for sure. She prays no matter what we are doing at the right times.

I think there are lots of different views and practises concering Islam even fore the muslims. Like christians concerning christianity.

as a muslim woman i feel free to answer this question. i don't think it's haram as long as respect is mutual. as a matter of fact, i have a male friend and we have a great relationship. we have never crossed the line of courtesy and that is what's important
