I propose that there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between believing that god is fortifying you, and believing in yourself. Can you prove otherwise?

Unless you can demonstrate how you were able to do something with the "aid of god" that no other human being has ever been able to do unassisted, you don't have a very convincing argument for faith.

(And, no, I don't care about life after death because despite what you've been taught, NOBODY knows for certain what happens.)

Saul was a very learned man in his religious beliefs. He knew for certain that he was a member of the coosen people of God and the coming Messiah. He lived his life in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, as he understood them.

He knew for certain that these people who were going from door to door, spreading their lies, supposedly taken from the very same Holy Scriptures, were a cult of false prophets and needed to be stopped.

Then, one day he came to believe that he had been wrong in his presumptions about them. He joined them in their teaching from door to door, house to house, and city to city. Because of his previous hardent opposition to them, he changed his name to Paul.

Had he been brainwashed into joining a cult, or had he found the Truth of God's word?

So who are you more like, Saul or Paul?

I am writing a short story for a political science class. I would like it to be along the lines of a society under a legal system similar to the Sharia in these two countries. Can anyone point me to books other than the Holy Qur'an and the Hadith? I was looking for something more along the lines of Islamic Revolutionary treatises. All help would be appreciated.

It seems that the Catholic Church existed before the New Testament.
According to Acts 8:3
"Saul, meanwhile, was trying to destroy the church; entering house after house and dragging out men and women, he handed them over for imprisonment."
Paul wrote 13 letters of the New Testament. According to the Bible, the Catholic Church existed before Paul became a Christian.
How many agree with this?

for religious and scientific discussion, would intelligent, open-minded people come to it and respectfully discuss the types of issues which cause major conflict in Y!answers?

I asked a very legitimate question on here of people of all and no religions, about why they think I have begun leaning towards atheism since coming onto yahoo!answers. I not only made sure to refer to one specific religion, but I was equally respectful to theists and atheists alike, yet my question was reported and deleted. I find that people on here have no respect and merely try to put down or silence those who think differently from them. Besides all that, there are certain aspects of this forum that make it less than ideal for discussion of topics.

So, would people come and remain respectful during discussion? Would people of all religions and non-religions agree to remain open-minded and defend their views instead of just forcing them on others? I think such a forum would be a wonderful outlet.

Why do Other Prodestant Denomination Christians whinge about Catholics ? Are they frightened of their particular Dogma ?

There are lots of other Christian Denominations out there, such as; Greek, Russian, Syrian, Albainian Orthodoxies. Coptic & Egyptian Christians, Edomites, Marianites, Mennonites, 7 Day Adventists, Johovah Witnesses. Why is it we never hear of any "Christians" whinging about this lot ?

Why is it always Catholics & not any of these others ?

“Don't imagine that you'll discover the truth by accumulating more knowledge. Knowledge creates doubt, and doubt makes you ravenous for more knowledge. You can't get full eating this way”
- Lao Tzu -

I believe that this is true, that we accumulate facts and expand the circumference of ignorance. If it continues like this then we will never reach the truth, it is like chasing after the horizon...
