My son is to do a one page report on a religion. Rather that do our own, I want him to learn about new ones and choose something new to write about. Don't go over his head. He is only 12. What does your religion believe that makes it different from the others.

According to many, God is infinitely powerful. God can make the entire cosmos in the blink of an eye. God can control everything down to the tiniest sub-atomic particle.
So if God is so powerful why does he demand humans to worship? It would be like a human demanding that ants worship us.

They have become a majority-they congregate and push their views upon OUR lives-they are nothing more than a gang who say they worship a God of Peace and yet 2000 years of WARs-mostly started for their want to have control-show that they WANT Control-Their President is a DICTATOR in IRAQ-his interests are not for the good of THAT country but OURS! Those people are "Not Guilty" by association because of Hussein-and should be allowed to VOTE if they want the US in or OUT don't you agree?! With everthing!

everyone seems satisfied that faith schools get better results - without seeking an explanation as to why they do better.

how can teaching childred that a particular god exists - ie the muslim god or the christian god - then lead to them getting better examination results?

Some mention that faith schools have a good ethos - but why does a school need to be a faith school to have a good ethos?

I can't see the link. Or is it just that brighter children end up going to faith schools?

In Matthew 5:3, in the sermon on the mount, He said,
“'Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'" I can't quite get a handle on what He meant, and it's bothersome. Can anyone help me?
Thank you and God bless you!

This is a follow up question to one posted by whitehorse456 earlier. I am addressing this SPECIFICALLY to pro choice individuals who DO NOT support late stage abortion because the fetus is viable but DO support early stage abortion because the fetus would not be viable outside the womb at that stage therefore not life. Question at the end.

US federal courts recently convicted a man for removing eggs from a sea turtle nest. His defense was that because the baby sea turtles had not hatched (been born) and were not capable of life outside the egg, that based upon legal precedence all he had done is abort a fetus in early stage which is not illegal to do under federal law with HUMANS. The court did not accept his argument.

So hear is the question. Why is it ok to abort the life energy of an early stage human fetus but not a sea turtle fetus? Is the life energy of a potential sea turtle more valuable than the life energy of a potential human?

What are your thoughts here?

People who don't believe in GOD must be really strong. I know we as humans don't really know why we are here or how we got here. But isn't it a beautiful feeling to know we will end up somewhere great after this awful world. Heaven sounds better than NOTHING or HELL. Weather there is a heaven or not, I feel better thinking there is something out there like God and heaven than nothing at all. What do you think?

...who carry their Bibles around in public and read it in class for the whole world to see?
I wonder if they read their Bible in private. Are they really reading their Bibles to meditate on the word of God or are they doing it for show? Your real character is what you do when no one is looking.
What do you think?

Please list your particular denomination (I'm trying to map them out), when they believe the "rapture" will take place in relation to the tribulation (pre-trib, trib, post-trib), and what scripture they point to when trying to justify their belief.

Also, if your church does not believe in the "rapture", please list the denomination and scriptural references, too.

If you're not a Christian, please don't post a response to this question.

It cracks me up to participate on the board sometimes.

The back and forth between intelligence and mindlessness is humorous enough -- almost enough for dinner theatre.

But when reading through replies, it just cracks me up to read intelligent, thoughful, logical replies to questions...

...and then you see where the christians just go down the list and "thumbs down" on every one of them -- not because they are a "bad answer" (which is what the thumbs down is really for) but because they hate people who disagree with them and talk intelligently. And they hate answers that don't quote scripture, or that don't go on and on and on mindlessly yakking about cult rituals, or that at least don't threaten non-believers with an eternity in hell. The low self-esteem factor amazes me!!

It really is kinda hilarious, don't ya think?
