It cracks me up to participate on the board sometimes.

The back and forth between intelligence and mindlessness is humorous enough -- almost enough for dinner theatre.

But when reading through replies, it just cracks me up to read intelligent, thoughful, logical replies to questions...

...and then you see where the christians just go down the list and "thumbs down" on every one of them -- not because they are a "bad answer" (which is what the thumbs down is really for) but because they hate people who disagree with them and talk intelligently. And they hate answers that don't quote scripture, or that don't go on and on and on mindlessly yakking about cult rituals, or that at least don't threaten non-believers with an eternity in hell. The low self-esteem factor amazes me!!

It really is kinda hilarious, don't ya think?

Yes it is hilarious....... we laugh about it, but at the same time there is an irony to it. It shows one the intolerance that they possess for ideas other than their own. What happened to: "turn the other cheek" that they always preach about. I think it shows the ignorance that they have about the teachings of their own religion. It also shows that they........ just like the Muslims, want to force their beliefs on everyone else. The proof is evident in the fact they they do it.

Now go ahead and give me a thumbs down you petty little hypocrites..........

I agree with you that this is sometimes the case, but it's not just Christians doing it, and certainly not ALL the Christians. You gotta recognize that in ANY group of people, there will be extremists, and it's the extremists that are most marginalized within their group, yet they are also the most vocal. Just because it's the really neurotic brimstone-and-hellfire Christians who are most vocal, doesn't mean they're all that nutso; same way if you were to assume that all atheists were Christian-bashers, just because it's the bashers who don't shut up.

If only closed minds came with closed mouths.

As a christian myself. No I do not think its funny. I think that the answer needs to go along with the question. Not depending on how a person feel's about the answer, and not if they hate the answer or not.

hilarious? I dont understand what your point is. I would give this comment you just did a thumbs down for it is disrepctful towards christians. Why does it have to be? It is not an intelligent, thoughtful or logical comment that you have here nor is it a real question. I dont think it is for anyone to judge what is hilarious or not quite to ones "intelligent" answer per say. "Low self esteem" factor, what exactly is that?? I have not seen anyone including christians voice anything in this manner other than high values on ones opinions with scripture or not. The question should be: Where is "respect" for christians or anyone who voices an opinion? To do name calling is 'thumbs down" in my "intelligent, thoughtful, logical thinking. God Bless--

People give a thumbs down to bad answers. If you feel that the information in the answer is incorrect then a thumbs down is the proper response.

Atheists always give me a million thumbs down, does that mean that they are also abusing the system?

I don't think it's so much that we disagree with some of the answers, it's being hateful & disrespectful we don't like!
