Many people have different ideas about what it means to be spiritual. I was wondering what they are.

Just curious if there are any gay Republican Christians on yahoo answers right now.

Obviously this question will garner 40 answers mostly christians telling me that gays go to heaven if they accept jesus.

For the record I'm a heterosexual atheist who isnt voting cause both parties are sucking this year.

I have had SEVERAL conversations with different christains about the bible and EVERYTIME i got a different translation of what they perceive the bible to be saying. If christains cant even come to a consensus about what the bible is saying, then why should I believe ANY of what they say?

My grandparents are fairly extreme about their religion. I have had debates with them where they say that if I don't believe in Jesus as my savior then I am going to hell. I retort with, "What about people that don't know about Jesus?" They say that they are going to hell. Well, what about people that have Alzheimer's? What if they can't remember who Jesus is? What if they think that their kids name is Jesus? Is that blasphemous? Are they going to hell? It is my understanding that in Evangelical Protestantism one must believe Jesus to be the Messiah. I don't think I like this God.

reality? What is it? How do you define it?

2006-10-26 13:05:27 · 7 answers · asked by -skrowzdm- 4

I have to start at the basics, and that's God. And the thing that I think you have to say about God first is that nobody knows who God is, nobody knows what God is. I don't care what they say--all any human being knows is how they believe they have experienced God. They do not know what God is. That would be like a horse saying they know what a human being is. A horse knows how a horse experiences a human being. And even when you say, this is my "God experience," there is always the possibility that you're deluded. And a lot of deluded people think that they have had "God experiences" and hear voices. So I start with that--I can't tell you who God is or what God is; I can only share what I believe my God experience is. My primary theological teacher was Paul Tillich. Tillich defines God not in terms of a being, a supernatural power who lives somewhere outside the world, but as what he calls "the ground of being." If God is the "ground of being" then I worship God by having the courage to be. And if I am faithful in following that God, I try to build a world where other people have the freedom to be who they are. Anything that enhances being would be good, and anything that violates being would be bad.

so men and women will not go after sex, indian HIV AIDS can be reduced.

isnt that true lower, middle, upper class men find their way to sleep with their own standard of indian prostitutes?

when these men visit frequently, they tell the women they love them. The women in the group laugh a bit about the men's proclamations of love, but there's a tragic fact behind their laughter: more than half of the sex workers are HIV positive.

pimps and brothel owners in india know very well the sex industry is a multi-million dollar business and they dont care about health. all about money. highest prices go for the youngest girls, many of whom have been kidnapped from other countries and trafficked to India. indian sex industry is controlled by indian mafia and corrupted people.

the truth is the rich upper class men can even get celebrities, indian escort websites claim they can get indian celebrities for one night sex, upon request.

Seems like the 'christians' love going on and on about who is and isn't going to hell. At the same time Jesus hung around with the 'lower class' elements of society. He wasn't hanging out with self-righteous religious fanatics, the rich, or war mongers. If that's the case why do all three of the above (religious, rich, war mongers) feel like they have the right speak for who Jesus would and wouldn't stand up for?

The Old and New Testaments are the only sources of Christian doctrine.

The Catholic sources of doctrine include:Certain papal declarations, Bishops in conjunction with the pope, Old Testament, New Testament, Apocrypha (some additions to the Bible), Catholic Church Tradition and Catholic interpretation of the Bible (The Catechism).

While God delight in making things simple, Church authority works dilligently to make things comlicated.

I'm an atheist heterosexual. Most smart Christians will quote 1 Corinthians 6:9 which says gays won't inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Mostly, I'm thinking this question will get 50 people who are going to shoot their mouths off about the topic of homosexuality.

by a teenager and he was looking for a serious answer and a lot of people (mostly christians) were condeming him and caling him immature. what i want to know is why? you need to ask the questions if you want to learn. and what in the world make one think that just because your older that makes you mature?
you can be a senior citizen and still be immature. (Gary)
so when the younger ones are asking the questions why not just answer honestly and intelligently or just not answer at all???

I know it's all opinion but perhaps someone has some real insight.
