Seems like the 'christians' love going on and on about who is and isn't going to hell. At the same time Jesus hung around with the 'lower class' elements of society. He wasn't hanging out with self-righteous religious fanatics, the rich, or war mongers. If that's the case why do all three of the above (religious, rich, war mongers) feel like they have the right speak for who Jesus would and wouldn't stand up for?

Dunno... but I'm starting to feel like a broken record. Christians are fallible, make mistakes and should not judge. It kind of scares me to think that they're "saying" what Jesus would or wouldn't do.

You are indeed correct that Jesus hung around with tax collectors, prostitutes, etc

Matthew 9:12
On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

In Leviticus 18 we learn a lot about the type of "relations" we should not have from incest, beastiality, family, neighbours, same sex adultry, http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=Leviticus+18&version1=31

However, we must remember that God is kind and patient and Jesus is forgiving. Jesus tells us in the New Testment that we need not keep "old laws". What it's hard to tell is that all of the Old Testament (where Leviticus comes from) or certain parts? The 10 Commandments are from the Old Testament and Jesus tells us to keep them.

One thing I do know for certain is that Titus 3 tells us not to argue about laws (New Testament). Any sort of arguing takes away from what God wants; us to love one another and focus on Him.

We'll all eventually find out; well for those of us who believe that we will.

Take Care & God bless!

If the term "war monger" is used to refer to the only people interested in national security, I consider that a virtue, not a weakness.

Jesus indeed hung out with the lowest in society and he included the sexually immoral with that crowd for the purpose of believing in him and ultaimtely CHANGING their lives. Jesus judged people whether we like it or not and gave us a standard of right and wrong and who is going to Heaven and who isnt and in fact that is the very reason the world hates Jesus and his followers.

Are we willing to listen or make judgments that dont rely on scripture but our personal feelings?

Gospel According to Saint Luke
Chapter 8

5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. 8 And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 10 To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 And they by the way side are they that hear; then the devil cometh, and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved. 13 Now they upon the rock, are they who when they hear, receive the word with joy: and these have no roots; for they believe for a while, and in time of temptation, they fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns, are they who have heard, and going their way, are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit. 15 But that on the good ground, are they who in a good and perfect heart, hearing the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit in patience.

So according to your logic Jesus was a pimp?

Jesus' purpose was to save sinners from their sin. He certainly didn't condone acts like prostitution or homosexuality.

And I don't know anyone who "beats up on gays."

Avoid stereotypes. The majority of racists and homophobes I've encountered in my life are Democrats.

for once I agree. the zealots, the rich and the war mongers should know when to keep silent.and not put words into other peoples mouths.
IT will be them going to hell for hypocrisy for misinterpreting the words of the Bible.and placing themselves up on a golden pedestal as if they knew everything

I agree, Jesus came for sinners...which means for ALL of us. One thing you failed to mention is that these "lower class elements of society" turned from their sin. They didn't wantonly continue to repeat the same sins over and over as Jesus Christ Himself said, "sin no more and follow Me."

Jesus stands for any sinner. But He called sinners to repentance. We need not forget that.

I never say things like that and I have very mixed feelings about it and a big part of me agrees with your statement. I only pray that my dear friends who happen to have been born gay do go to Heaven. I think God loves them regardless, for they are His children as well.

no one has the right to speak for who Jesus hung out with.
some Christians might think they have a private phone line to God, but they dont. only prejudice and intolerance.
