I have had SEVERAL conversations with different christains about the bible and EVERYTIME i got a different translation of what they perceive the bible to be saying. If christains cant even come to a consensus about what the bible is saying, then why should I believe ANY of what they say?

Christianity is like a supermarket -- everybody takes away whatever they came to get, nobody goes away disappointed, nobody ever has to taste turnip or liver if they don't want to, and nobody ever has to believe something they weren't prepared to believe to begin with.

Talk about convenience.

Everyone has their own opinion about any religion, even Christians. The foundation of Christianity is that God became flesh in Jesus Christ to redeem us of our sins. If we accept Him as our Savior, ask for forgiveness, and repent of our sins, then we will have eternal life. Now, there are many other issues that people try to interpret based on their own beliefs of who God is. These opinions usually have something to do with things that are going on in their or someone that they are close to's lives. For example, if I or a close friend were considering having an abortion, I might convince myself that abortion is not a sin or is justifiable in my case to ease my conscience. It doesn't have to be anything that big either. We have to justify it to ourselves every time we lie, cheat, steal, etc.
The point is don't judge Christianity by Christians. Judge it by the Bible and what did Jesus do?

Well one might be right and if not listen to the Bible or at least test them by the Bible. Even the Bible itself says (many) false teachers and false prophets are out there.

You have to gather the information and decide for yourself.Since none of us actually wrote the bible, or none of us has GOD over for tea, we can only take the guidelines that GOD gave us and go from there.I am a christian, i don't believe everything Christians say and I believe the basics of the bible. It has been translated too many times to take it verbatim.

Well that sounds good, but you are assuming that they are all wrong just because they have different answers. If you seriously wanted to know what the truth about the Bible is-you could find it real easy, and real quick. Trouble is, most people would rather complain and whine about things than do something about it-right?

The reason that the people who believe in the Christian religion are usually at odds with each other (and this has been visible throughout time) is because the religion is just that - a religion. There is no way to determine any truth to a religion, and as such there is no way to find any universal basis (save for moral) for the belief. This, however, is present in most of the world's religions and will continue as such thanks to the way that religion is implemented in the world today.

You should study the bible for yourself and pray while you are reading it and the answers will come to you if you are sincere in ur search or spiritual journey. Depending on man's interpretation will get you no where. You should believe in yourself and focus on God.

2 Tim. 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God...."

Jesus is the Chief ConerStone of the Christians.
If Every Christian gets the Rest of the Bible Wrong, there is One Thing that they Have to get Right, or their not a Child of GOD.
That one thing is Who Jesus Said HE Was.

You don't Follow a Man or Woman, you Follow Jesus.

You shouldn't believe any Christians. Christians aren't supposed to do that either, we are to believe Jesus and His word. Study the Bible on your own, just accept it for what it says and make up your own mind. James tells us if we lack wisdom ask God.
James 1:5 " But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

Why? For your own well-being. Choose a mainstream church that is Biblio-centric and go and talk to the pastor, ask those tough questions. Martin Luther called the differences felicitous inconsistencies.

We mostly agree on the big important stuff. Jesus died for our sins so that we may have eternal life. You don't want to miss out on that.

Don't try to figure out what you believe about the Bible by what they say. Read it yourself and come to your own conclusion.
