I'm not actually looking to start one, I just wanted to know how relgions come to be. What makes a religion a religion, anyways? It has to be something more than belief and faith, otherwise it means that people believe in the same thing only in different forms, right?
I wasn't really raised to believe a specific relgion, my mother was buddhist and my father simply followed. Both my parents were open enough to let me follow my own beliefs.
I just want to have something to fall on and keep me going in life just in case I ever fall into that depressive state again.
I don't like being depressed. It's depressing.

I see many of you argue that your faith is based on the "eternal" reward that awaits you, but how do you REALLY KNOW what eternity is? It is a big assumption on your part that the word eternity means forever, but these are human words and human concepts. You are going by a human definition.

NOWHERE in the bible does god state WHAT eternity means. For all you know, the word eternity was mistranslated, and what god really meant by the word was "funny."

For example, lets substitute "funny" for "eternal" in some biblical passages...

Psalm 119:89
Your word, O Lord is FUNNY; it stands firm in the heavens.
Psalm 16:11
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with FUNNY pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 119:160
All your words are true; all your righteous laws are FUNNY.
Deuteronomy 33:27
The FUNNY God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms...

Say it with me... FUNNY!

I know I've read it , as a (backslid) ordained minister.I'm not sure I'm clear on the relationship there between Jesus & John.To me there are some passages which I feel uncomfortable with involving the two of them hugging and embracing and being "too close for compfort". Please people , you don't need to get mad , just help me understand what it says here.
Thanks,
Rev. Jason Petty

What is your understanding of what the bible says about the Anti-Christ? What country do you think he will come from? Could it even be the USA? Most Christians I have spoken with about this think that he will come from Europe. And is it just a by chance that the UN headquarters is in the same country Hitler was born? I'm not saying that Austria is an "evil" country just asking if the location could serve any significance. There is no doubt that the antichrist will be a politica figure. Could it be the UN leader sometime in the future?

I mean seriously..

I made my choice to be a Muslim. It's not like it's just a label. I actually read about other religions. I questioned. I thought about it. I've sought reaffirmation.

Why does this make me a sheep or a conformist or someone afraid to live without boundaries?

This whole mentality that i'm some worthless individual because i voluntarily chose to believe in God pisses me right the hell off.

i keep hearing how some of you say that having psychic abilities is not of god but is evil.
my question is if thats so then why is not evil of the people in biblical times when they had some kind of forsight or psycic ability?
then it was a gift from god. why not now?

I am the apple of Gods eye and although I forget sometimes he always reminds me by blessing me and taking care of me. I am one of Gods most excellent creations blessed with CREATIVITY and FREE WILL to do and say and think as I please. I am so grateful God is madly in love with me in a unique and special way.

How do you express your humanity? How tolerant are you of others humanity? Have you ever thought that your intolerance is just a misunderstanding of the fact that other people are just as human as you and have the same problems dealing with life?

I PERSONALLY was told in a vision to take the mark of the beast and survive because the truth was the Jewish prophets wrote this line in scripture to set up a government in the future where their seed could control the economies of the world with fear through their written word (bible). I am going to take the chip and continue my life as a normal human being surviving with the instincts God gave me to survive. Why suffer over the worlds gteatest conspiracy?

Why not worship nature instead of "God"?
Why not worship the arts, the environment, music, happiness, science, poetry, music, sound, light, colours and birds?

I don't understand why many people still waste so much time of their lives with things that they cannot see, when the universe we have around us is so wonderful and worthy of adoration.
Why waste our time with things we are not sure of their existance, when what exists around us is so much beautiful already?

I'd rather sit every night in silence, under the starry night and the moonlight, and marvel at the hugeness and perfection of our universe, instead of going to church every morning to hear to the preaching of a book written by fellow men and feeling guilty for just living my life.

I just got a new deck of tarot, and unlike my old cards, they're new. My old cards are a family heirloom, and they're very hospitable, but these new cards are a little feisty. Any tips on breaking them in?
