I've noticed a few "holier-than-thou" answers, which just makes my question more appropriate.

I'm a Christian and I'm sorry that you feel that way. Christians, like people (are people) are all different and fallible.
I'd like to take the easy answer and say that maybe you mis-interpreted what "they" said and it's their "religious confidence" that gave this perception.
However, I have been surfing R&S for a while now and I too have come across those "Christians" that judge and present themself "holier than thou". Again.. not everyone is the same.
Christians must remember that the bible tells us to be meek, humble and non-judgemental (although we're sinners and it's hard/challenging at times). We need to allow people the room to make their own decisions and not cram our beliefs down peoples throats; just as we don't want to be crammed.
We need to always ask ourself WWJD? (what would Jesus do?) before proceeding or we run high risk of going off 'half ******' on our personal beliefs and not necessarily those of the Lord.
Take Care

It is those Christians who carry a holier-than-thou attitude than turns the world away from christianity. I know I am not morally superior to any other person. I sin just like any other person, including christians, down to Billy Graham himself. However, I do know that God has forgiven me because I place my trust in Jesus Christ. I have the knowledge that God forgives me, not by my actions but by my faith. No Christian is perfect, but because of the blood of Jesus, God doesn't see our sins, only Jesus blood.

Because they believe that there can be no morality without god. Which is a very silly conceit.
In fact, we are beginning to discover that we are not the only "moral" creatures. Many other primates exhibit signs of morality, though it is not as intricate as our own. It's most likely that morality evolved with our species because we are necessarily social, and a society doesn't work when its individuals act "immoral."

Not so, wrong you are wrong.
No one person is better than another.
We just all believe different, sometimes we were taught that way
And sometimes we are strong enough to make up our own mind.
There are many ways to God, you must arrive in your own mind Through much searching to find what you feel is right.
Why do you use the lable, christian? For one who believes in the word of God?
We all must love each other the same. That is the first and great commandment.

The Christians you are referring to have this club mentality. They believe they belong to the most exclusive club known to man - God's Club. Sort of like that snob fraternity you've always heard about. I do know other Christians who have a better handle on the concept it a lot better, though, and believe they are in a sense servants of the almighty. These folks are always there to help you with your spirituality without trying to make you feel like you just crawled out of the swamp.

Because they think they get their morality from a divine being and the rest of us are just "Lost".
Its ridiculous, but true.
However, the tide is turning! Just look at the times today. The number of Atheists and Agnostics are growing ten-fold! Its no longer taboo to speak out against religion. Just give it time my fellow Atheists and Agnostics, our time is on the horizon!!

we are not morally superior, if we were , we would not need Christ, therefore not be Christians- instead we would be our own Gods. Unfortunatley , many that call themselves Christians are, but this is not the definition of true Christianity.

I am not one who thinks I am superior to any one. There is only one superior individual and He resides in Heaven.
However why is it someone has a "bad" confrontation with one Christian and that seems to make us all bad in that persons eyes?
Sorry you feel this way
Many blessings ~i~

I'm Christian and I don't think I'm superior to people who don't believe in God. It depends on the person, I think, not the religion.
