I was raised a Christian. I studied Judaism for about 10 years and almost converted. Those 10 years were hellish in my household, because my mom couldn't stand that I wasn't a Christian. Then, I had doubts about Judaism, and the literalness of the Bible, etc. I started to go to church again, and mom was thrilled of course. But in the meantime, I have become a Hindu. Mom has no idea, and I refuse to tell her, because I can't stand to go through that hell again. If she was that upset over me being Jewish, can you imagine her reaction to me being Hindu, which she knows next to nothing about?
Ok, today was Diwali, and since I'm at home (even though I'm 31) I didn't get to do anything in celebration. It has made me sad. I feel hindered from my worship of God because of having to hide all forms of my religious expression from Mom.
I recently attended a Catholic Church, and I really felt the presence of God there. Even though I'm a Hindu, I accept Christianity as a valid way of
