why did humans create religion?

Fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of outsiders, fear of people not thinking the same way that you do.
Theism comes down to being afraid, so you turn to your big brother in the sky to protect you from all the bad things in the world.

Because death was always looming over him. When your life depends on having fire to dry yourself and keep you warm so you can survive the night, you ask fervently for a flame to come as you're striking that flint or twirling that stick. If something works or at least you think it does, you do it again. And it becomes ritual. Ritual and belief becomes religion.
There's a good scifi fiction, House of Stairs by William Sleator, that shows how a group of teens were trained into bizarre behaviors to get a food machine to work.

To govern for one and not in a bad way. It kept people from running amok; and gave them principles to live by. You must admit that the 10 commandments are certainly rules that everyone should (to be a good person) follow. Religion is also a great comfort for people during difficult times. If someone you love were dying, your grief might be easier to handle if you had religion to fall back on or a clergyman to talk to. Going to church makes people feel good and comforted.

it's all a farse. It's the worlds largest and greatest pyramid scheme. No one has any proof of anything. But everyone still feels the need to salivate like pavlov's dogs when religion is mentioned. Bow your head and pray and keep the offering plates full. Good Boy!

I believe religion was not created. We all have religion. Some worship God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). Some worship themselves. Some worhip objects. Some worship demons and the devil. Those who say they are aetheist actually create their own religion, aethisim.

Man created religion because in front of certain circumstances he feels weak like diseases, death, ....etc.
So, to find allies to support him.

So a cleric could be in power..........same reason for the president.............. It's all about controll. Not saying it's not true, no one can answer that, but human nature does seem to lead to control...........
