I have recently taken up vegetarianism. I found this quote by John Harris:

"Suppose that tomorrow a group of beings from another planet were to land on Earth, beings who considered themselves as superior to you as you feel yourself to be to other animals. Would they have the right to treat you as you treat the animals you breed, keep and kill for food?" --John Harris (1946- )

I do NOT intend for this to be a discussion of vegetarianism, of extra-terrestrial life, but simply to be a discussion of this hypothetical question. If advanced aliens landed on Earth, and started "taming us" for meat, and slaughtering us and eating us, would it be okay?

Preface: I am a Christian and I firmly believe in the Trinity and its basis in Scripture. But this is an issue some should consider.

1 John 5:7 in context reads: 7 So we have these three witnesses 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood – and all three agree.

This is a classic prooftext for the Trinity, but verse 7 is dubious. Can anyone explain why?

I have never cut my hair. Never worn anything other than long skirts/dresses, Longish sleeved shirts, split skirts, etc. I have never drank, never smoked, never done drugs. I do not swear, I have always believed in abstinace before marriage, I do not own a T.V., and I did not become a Christian until 4 years ago... Yet some persist in thinking that because I attend a pentecostal church I am a legalist... Why?

Imitation is a hinderance to human progress. But the independent investigation of truth is a tremendously difficult job! Most of us don't like new ideas, new cultures, new environments. We want all things to be stable as in "the golden old days". Some individuals who make wonderful discoveries are considered as rare saints, angels, supermen...!
It is time now for humanity to reach collective maturity, so the seeking of truth is no longer exclusive to some individuals, but to all of us. Perhaps, the Internet is an instrument pointing to the path of truth.

"He (Baha’u’llah) lays stress on the search for Truth. This is most important, because the people are too easily led by tradition. It is because of this that they are often antagonistic to each other, and dispute with one another.
But the manifesting of Truth discovers the darkness and becomes the cause of Oneness of faith and belief: because Truth cannot be two! That is not possible."
(Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 27)

Hi all, me again. I just wanted to let those of you who answered my previous question regarding getting help with my book about atheism, know that I have updated my question. The above question is one of the ones I have included on the survey I am asking both religious and non-religious people to fill out.

The religious sections question on this topic is:

2) How were you introduced to the church and God? (I.e. family participation in church, self discovered, friends talking about it…etc)

If you would like to help me out, I have the survey set up and ready to go. While it might not be all the questions I will need to ask, in fact, I'm sure it's not, it is a good starting point to gather information to help me write my book with much more honesty and fairness to either side, if I can get enough people answering.

The link is: http://www.tntservice.net/atheism/index.html

I really appreciate everyones help with this. If you know anyone who can help too, send them there!

Will mankind eventually wise up and rid themselves of the scourge caused by the bloodthirsty madness and power hunger promoted by these religions?

The UPCI holds that salvation is accomplished by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and not by works (Titus 3:5). The UPCI teaches a code of conduct based upon what it believes to be scriptural teaching, although detractors allege that many of these beliefs are mandated by church officials. The UPCI professes holiness standards as a privilege and that obedience to those standards is for the benefit of the individual. This includes beliefs that women should not cut their hair and should wear dresses or skirts, not pants, according to a scriptural mandate to "Not wear that which pertaineth to a man" (Deuteronomy 22:5) and "adorn [yourself] in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety" (1 Timothy 2:8-10). Men and women alike are discouraged from wearing jewelry, scripturally "gold, or pearls, or costly array" (1 Timothy 2:8-10).

Who do you think would make a better lawyer, a Christian or an Atheist. I would say the Christian because they are able to convince others that it is true and maintain the majority of our population, while having mounds of evidence showing that the Bible is not factual. While the Atheist has all of the evidence in his favor, yet still remains the minority of our population.

Islam has never contributed anything but mayhem, bloodshed, hatred, death and destruction to the world. The history of Islam is a road paved with the rotting corpses of innocent human beings, and Mohammed was clearly a madman,so why would people who otherwise seem like decent human beings allow them down this path of evil ? Why would they damn their children to oppression, bloodshed and brutality?Wouldn't the world be a better place if the scourge that is Islam was removed from the Earth so that the decent people who may still exist could have a chance to live a peaceful life and future?

I have fallen into temptation and have failed. I don't want to be a hypocrite and a sinner.

Please forgive me for failing God and the Christian community.
