Imitation is a hinderance to human progress. But the independent investigation of truth is a tremendously difficult job! Most of us don't like new ideas, new cultures, new environments. We want all things to be stable as in "the golden old days". Some individuals who make wonderful discoveries are considered as rare saints, angels, supermen...!
It is time now for humanity to reach collective maturity, so the seeking of truth is no longer exclusive to some individuals, but to all of us. Perhaps, the Internet is an instrument pointing to the path of truth.

"He (Baha’u’llah) lays stress on the search for Truth. This is most important, because the people are too easily led by tradition. It is because of this that they are often antagonistic to each other, and dispute with one another.
But the manifesting of Truth discovers the darkness and becomes the cause of Oneness of faith and belief: because Truth cannot be two! That is not possible."
(Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 27)

People seek something to believe in. Religous stories all stem from myth... and myth is comprised of stories which explain the big question... "Why are we here". It is hard for people to grasp that there is nothing more after we die. They WANT to have more, something to look forward to when they and their loved ones are gone. The stories that existed for so long are there for many reasons, they give order to society in the form of morals, they give hope and a sense of security.

Seeking the truth for yourself is a cumbersome task, a task in which many people are unable to fulfill.... they are wrapped up in their own lives. To some, it never occures to seek further truth.

Tu Nga,
That's why I'm Christian. Because I believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ! Before I was Christian, I knew nothing about all that. And through independent study, I found out!

How about that!
