This is a quote from Christian father St. Athanasius regarding ethics and morality. This is the website where the quote is referenced in:

So, for all those posters who deny God and there are many of you out there - have at it....

Seriously, what if I don't give two sh*ts what a two thousand year old book written by a bunch of town crazies says? I mean, really! Gay marriage, abortion; you name it and the US has a law against it based on Christianity. Some of this is rather obvious (sodomy illegal in 48 states? wtf). I thought that this country was suppossed to be founded on religious freedom, not Christianity.

Oh, and don't give me that "How come you atheists care about the bible if it doesn't concern you?" crap either. Because...
1. The Socratic method is for weak-mined dumbasses who can't answer a question without trying to weasel out of the subject.
2. It_does_"concern" us. Laws are based on this junk, Bush gained votes during the 2004 election because of his religious stance on certain topics, and not to mention that atheists/agnostics/anyone who doesn't worship the Christian god are put down in society, the workplace, etc.

......

I'll add on to this if I get any feedback from Y! Answers users.

Christianity is a religion and Buddhism is more of a philosophy. I accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I hear that it is possible to be both, but how does that work, if it does at all? Give me your personal views I won't take any answers offensively. Thanks for your time.

"Man has three qualities: sathwa (purity, serenity), rajas (passion, excitedness), and thamas (indolence, inertia). We have to preserve the sathwic quality. A person of evil thoughts will see evil everywhere. A person of good thoughts will see good everywhere. However, a person with no thoughts at all will become a full man. That person is eternal and peaceful.

A cloth is made of threads woven into warp and woof. From where did the thread called karmaphala (the fruit of one's actions) come? It has come from the cotton of janmanthara samskaras (the vasanas or tendencies acquired from several previous births). A thread is made out of cotton and woven into a cloth. And that cloth is worn by us. The cloth called the human body that we are wearing is a gift of God."

I was reading the Case for Faith by Lee Strobel, and it talked about how hell wasn't exactly what people expected it to be. Like it being a burning place with fire or a frozen wasteland is just figures of speech. The interview in the book says that hell is a place where you are completely isolated from God forever. You reject God, you go to hell where God is no longer connected to you. Like burning fire and stuff are all just figures of speech. And it's not a torture chamber where you burn forever and can't die. What do you see hell to be as?

In Christianity I have noticed that God has been divided into 3 parts and it seems that powers of Satan are just that, powers...as if the Devil could actually create illusions or circumstances that truly manipulate my human reality...is this right?

For example: (I made this up so its not great)

God walks into a bar and asks for a drink. The bartender ignores him. So again he asks, but still, he's being ignored. So finally he shouts at the bartender to get him a drink. Nothing.

Furious, he storms out of the bar, where he runs past Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

"Why's he so mad?" Inquires the Easter Bunny.

Santa Claus says. "Must have realized he doesn't exist"

Why does God take the fall because people kill each other or someone rapes? God seen the wickedness in the heart of man and regreted he ever made them. So then by free will, people choose to be evil. God doesn't want things to be this way, he just said that it would.God will judge this world again, are you ready?

Some loser will post an inflammatory question designed to "tear down" your faith tonight. Usually of the following "If Jesus and paul were celibate, does that mean they wanted the whole human race to go extinct?"

Many questions that are derived from ignorance and put forth in derision.

Well, ask me what you will and confuse what you like. The bible says "Seek and ye shall find." Therefore if you look for reasons not to believe, you will find them.

I am happy in my faith and my personal walk with God. I ask nothing from them. So why must they hate faith so much? Why so many random taunts against our faith from those who know nothing of it save the paradoxes answered with prayer?

Why can't you just not believe and go about your business? Why challenge US because you yourself struggle with your non-belief? It's not my business, is it?

I'm happy with God.

I've read that if you dream in color, it's a sign that you are astral projecting at night, whereas black and white is just a plain dream. I have NEVER had a dream in B&W. Always FULL color.... VERY vivid and VERY realistic.....I wake up many nights covered in sweat because they are so realistic. Just looking for some sources to gain some information on dreams....

first of all, I'm a christian. I know that putting your faith in Christ, and accepting him as your personal savior is how you get to heaven. But do you have to repent for every sin that you commit everytime you sin? even the ones that you aren't aware that you committed. Or say that there are sins that you can't seem to break the habit of doing. Like, say that on your deathbed you somehow sin and die right after that. Does that mean that you're going to hell? I appreciate everyone who takes the time to answer. Thanks.

I assume you have all read the Book of Revelations. How will you explain away the millions of people who will disappear during the Rapture? How will you explain away the mark of the beast,666?How will you explain away the 7 year tribulation period and all that will happen during that time? All these things were prophesied and written about over 2000 years ago,and will soon come to pass.
I don't want answers like"This won't happen so I don't have to worry about it." I know you don't believe it all to be true, but just keep an open mind for a bit,and give me an honest answer. When all the things written in the Book of Revelations happens, will that finally convince you that God does exist, and if not,how will you explain it?

Isn't it better to rationally, calmy, explain your position without the need for personal invective and insult? Don't you accomplish more that way?
