Seriously, what if I don't give two sh*ts what a two thousand year old book written by a bunch of town crazies says? I mean, really! Gay marriage, abortion; you name it and the US has a law against it based on Christianity. Some of this is rather obvious (sodomy illegal in 48 states? wtf). I thought that this country was suppossed to be founded on religious freedom, not Christianity.
Oh, and don't give me that "How come you atheists care about the bible if it doesn't concern you?" crap either. Because...
1. The Socratic method is for weak-mined dumbasses who can't answer a question without trying to weasel out of the subject.
2. It_does_"concern" us. Laws are based on this junk, Bush gained votes during the 2004 election because of his religious stance on certain topics, and not to mention that atheists/agnostics/anyone who doesn't worship the Christian god are put down in society, the workplace, etc.
......
I'll add on to this if I get any feedback from Y! Answers users.

Holy crap dude! I didn't expect to get so many answers...and so many positive ones as well. Okay, time for responses.
Elphaba - Cool, I'll have to check out that video later.
bbsistaKT - I was actually just expecting people to get p*ssed off at me or something. This was technically a question, considering that I asked people "What if I don't care what the bible says?" This question was basically my way of saying "why are atheists treated differently because of the imaginary gods they don't believe in?". And, when I first posted this, no I did not "feel any better about myself." Now, however, I do because so many people agree with me. Thanks for taking the time to answer, though.
avrenim_414 - Smart answer there. However, he goes to church (I think...?) and talks about the bible as if were very important to him, so it seems he's a Christian. Who am I to question his faith?
DB Cash - I would normally be annoyed by an answer like that, but you've humored me. Hitler...lol.

Maximus - Wow, there's so many smart people in the world who are secular. Also, I can't help but to notice your link says "godisimaginary." Heh, that's a cool name for a website.
muah - Okay, look. I don't want a religious debate. I am entitled to my opinion as you are yours. And btw, I left "God" lowercase on purpose. Notice that I said "the Christian god" rather than "God" as a proper noun (gods are considered person/idea, I suppose). Religion does not give one reason to disregard grammar.
God - Hey look, it's God! Cool name, and smart answer. I may just have to choose you for best answer...
MarlyneB - *groans* More preaching, hooray. That has nothing to do with my questions, go away.

Victoria W - It's people like you that make me hate Christianity! My point is that everything is based on a certain religion, which isn't fair for others. And not just atheists, people of any faith (or "non-faith" for that matter). A true free country should be void of bias. Also, I'm not "hounding" you or your "family," dumbass. I never said that Christians sucked or are bad people, I'm just saying that I'd rather government be secular and fair to all people rather than base things on ANY religious documents. I have friends who are Christian, and we respect each others beliefs, so don't dare make me out to be some hateful, godless deviant. I would further explain to you why your post was utterly the most poorly put together crap I've ever read in my life, but I'm running out of room, and you probably aren't going to read this anyway.

mrdav76 - Convince? What? I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, moron.
"Apathy doesn't beget that kind of anger." Are you trying to sound clever or something? Because you, sir, are doing a very shitty job of it. My apathy lies in the bible, while my anger lies in the government using the bible as a law making device. You fail at life, now go hang yourself.
Jade H - Thank you very much, I'm glad you have taken the time to answer. I have nothing against Christians or their beliefs, I only ask questions to provoke a little bit of thought. Better to ask questions than be a mindless zombie, right?
melrae1116 - Agreed, and thanks for thumbs up.
Cowboy144 - ...okay, whatever, this wasn't exactly discussing religion itself.
iltmaemc - Agreed, religion causes war, death, intolerance, you name it.
Ivan - Nice answer, yeah, I suppose that we do have a comparably high degree of religious freedom. Still, it would be nice if people themselves could learn some tolerance too!

coldstream26 - Are you being sarcastic? Your answer makes no sense at all, sorry pal. Oh, and your average atheist goes through a lot more crap than your average Christian does. I don't care what they show on TV, in real life atheists are afraid to admit their views for fear of being judged by others. Believe me, friend, it works that way with all smaller groups who are different. Thanks for answering, by the way.

I agree. If Church and State were truly separate, we would not have half the stupid laws on the books that we do now. But the Christian Borg, want to assimilate everyone. Live as I tell you or else. We edge closer to an authoritarian theocracy every election cycle.

You have fairly high degree of religious freedom in this country. As you point out, not completely, as there is bias in the legislative process. Ideally, we will rid all politics and official functions from religion. That's only fair to the very large group of non-Christians.
Another thing: You are allowed to make fun of small, unimportant religions ("cults"), but not the large ones with a lot of money. Who draws the line for how weird a religion can be, before it is no longer protected under "religious freedom"?
DB Cash: Hitler was a committed catholic. According to some interpretations of Christianity that means that there is forgiveness. So you may meet him in Heaven, who knows?

Everybody should have a right to free religion. I am a christian and have the knowledge I need in order to satisfy my curiousity. In my beliefs, everything that is happening has been foretold. That is all the proof I need. I have nothing to loose by believing. I have everything to loose if I don't and there really is a God. So I might as well give it my all and have faith. You have a right to believe what you want and not be critisized for it. That is what makes any religion hypocritical. We are all here together no matter what.

Yeah right, I can see how squelched your freedom is in our society. You can openly live with and have babies with, and screw any and as many people you want to, doesnt even matter what sex they are. You can murder your unborn babies, you can burn our flag, you can worship the devil, or buddha or whoever you feel or don't feel like. You can choose whatever occupation you want, do what you want with your money, You can sit under a tree if you choose and contemplate how much Christianity has imposed on your freedom. And I don't think you really need to worry about being "put down" do you? Who is more put down than Christians? Just look what you wrote about us.

Dude, i have given up debating with so called "religious" people... most are in such a deep religious delusion that there is no saving them. Zombee is a word that comes to mind.
I have found people in the science and astronomy section actually base their life and thoughts around reality, rather than some 2000 year old dark age holy book...
"Global Religious Delusions" is what it is

Just what religion do you think this country was founded on if not Christianity? Even if you don't care about the Bible and what this 2,000 yr. old book says-consider who formed you-not osmosis, not some slimy creature calling from the ocean onto land and evolving-if that were remotely true-where did the slimy thing come from-who made the universes and keeps the sun and moon in exact position form the earth so we do not burn up or freeze-how do you explain a tiny sperm evolving into a human being with every organ doing it's thing,a brain capable of so much we haven't yet explored?
And if you don't believe in heaven or hell or God or salvation through faith in Jesus Christ what if you are wrong! And you spend eternity in hell-you make the choice, not God-you.
Do you realize everyone is born in sin and at one time or another in life, rejects God's word-salvation,etc. but when we repent and accept Him into our lives-we are completely turned around by His grace-and are ashamed at how we were so abusive of God who loves us so much He sent His only begotten son to die in our place that we might have life eternal. End of sermon- The life I lived BC is nothing like what I live now.Wow!

I give you a thumbs up on the question. Hell I'm trying to make a living here and make ends meet and they want me to be concerned where the heck I'm going when I die. Why don't one of you believers die and then come back and tell the world what it is all about and how you got where you wanted to go? Now that would be worth listening to.

the bible is a book that's all it is. a big money maker.
just always remember that all religions are evil and bad.
there is nothing good about any religion that divides mankind.
all humans on the planet were equal until religion came along with a stupid book like the bible, Koran , Talmud or what ever.
if we really want peace on earth. eliminate all religions.
then and only then can we all be brothers and sisters and live in peace. please everyone grow up and drop religious belief and take responsibility for your own life and respect your neighbor.
religion is for people who do not live their life with integrity.
If they truly live their life with integrity they would not need religion.

What is your problem!!! We live in a country of all types. You don't have to hang out with followers of Christ. You can go and hang out with other atheists who get all bent out of shape over other peoples beliefs. And throw fits that there are people who exist that read and follow the Bible. What did you expect that all the Christians on this site are going to apologize that we have to share the world with you? Get a flippin life, you belong to a faith (or non faith) that allows you to fornicate! Go take advantage of it and stop hounding my family! (the family of God)

i agree with you. i'm a newbie to the wiccan faith and have been made to feel like an outcast at work because i no longer attend formal christian mass at any church buildings. yes, i believe in God, but i have exercised my free will and chosen NOT to follow a leader but to interpret things on my own, based on my knowledge. you utter the word wiccan or pagan and immediately you're judged and labeled a satan worshipper. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM is a fable if there ever was one. we are NOT free in the truest sense of the word to worship or not worship or to lead a christian or non-christian life. thanks for the soapbox, AND THE POINTS!!
