Christianity is a religion and Buddhism is more of a philosophy. I accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I hear that it is possible to be both, but how does that work, if it does at all? Give me your personal views I won't take any answers offensively. Thanks for your time.

Ok, I appreciate the Bible verses and all. But Buddhism doesn't have any Gods. Buddha is the founder of the philosophy but he's not a God. I believe and follow one true God only. I don't really see it contradicting eachother other than maybe reincarnation which I obviously don't believe in. But I like the Buddhist philosophy.

hey, watch your mouth! Buddhism is not a philosophy. philosophy is

not pratical and not relevant eith everything in the world. Our

admirable BUDDHA got enlightenment through meditation.

Philosophy cannot lead to enlightment.and, pardon me? why do

christian say that their god can save every people. if he can save

every people, why is there so many poverty and crime all around

the world. Our Buddha say that he cannot save people by using

his divine power. He can only teach how to live peacefully and

successfully in life. and, There is no connection between

BUDDHISM and christianity. Being a buddhist, we have to take

refuge and trust in only BUDDHA, DHAMMA and SANGA.

If someone say he or she is a BUDDHIST and he pray

and believe what others' speech and teachings, he or she is not

a pure BUDDHIST. This is how Theravada Buddhist believe.

but, now many theravada Buddhist are praying to nut and do nt

think deeply the nobleness of being Buddhist.especially in

Myanmar. My nationality is myanmar and i take sympathy on

those who pray to nut.I earnestly want you to abandon this belief.

Under no circumstances, i will not be BUDDHIST and christian at

the same time.

What i write disgrace you, i sincerely apologize.

but, different people have different views, i also try to adapt to my

environment in which many people believing different religions.

Our BUDDHA also teach us not to insult other religions.

Thank you for your question!

I'm Buddhist, and it's basically how you look at it. The thing is Buddhism is a religion, and it states that anyone can be a Buddhist. Everyone is equal, and that's why I love this religion so much. Christians have said that if you are not Christian, you go to hell. Buddhism isn't like that. You can be anyone you want to be, and once you commit sin, there's nothing you can do. Be the best person you can be in life. In contrary to Christianity, where a Christian will be forgived of sins, but not anyone else. The basic idea of Christianity is ok, but Buddhism is more peaceful. Sure you can be a Buddhist and a Christian at the same time, but I'm not sure that you can be a Christian and a Buddhist, because of Christian teachings.

There are meldings of the two. In Buddhism, your goal is to achieve enlightenment, to follow the 8-fold path, to recognize the 4 noble truths, and to practice Buddhist meditation. Buddhists do not necessarily believe in God, and although many Buddhists assert the need to believe in reincarnation, many others see interpret reincarnation as a metaphor.

None of this is contrary to many forms of Christianity, but in Buddhism, the equality of individuals is paramount, the need not to do harm and behave respectfully. Some forms of Christianity, by assuming a holier than thou appoach to spirituality, will not fit well with Buddhism.

I have an interesting book in my collection that speaks a bit to this. It is Going Home: Jesus and Buddha as Brothers by Thich Nhat Hanh. It's been a long while since I read it, but is written by the same author of Living Buddha, Living Christ. These speak to the connections between the two and how each can help deepen the other.

I recommend these to anyone interested.

Buddhism is a religion. They believe in Buddha as their God. Christian believes in Jesus Christ . He is our Lord and we are supposed to follow in His footsteps.

. Buddha thought long on this and concluded that we suffer because we make our "non-suffering" or happiness contingent on things outside of ourselves; things that are temporary in nature and that all things (except God) are temporary, or at least in a constant state of change. To free ourselves from suffering we must break this chain of events, and he developed the eightfold path as a way of doing that. Approach it as an idea rather than a religion. It's pretty interesting. In this instance, one can view Buddhism as a philosophy of life.

The teachings or Dharma of Buddha concentrate on understanding oneself. The cause and effect, karma teaches one to create a bright future. There are three universal truths:everything is impermanent. Because nothing is permanent, a life based on possessing things or persons, don't make you happy. Finally, there is no eternal, unchanging soul and self is just a collection of changing characteristic attributes. So it's possible to be a christian but have inner peace, karma enlightenment and follow the Buddhist way of life.

The Buddhist way of viewing the world is at odds with the Christian perspective. I have been both. For a start Buddhists do not KNOW if there is a God at all.

in the way of Real Christianity is not really depends on the religion they're based their beliefs and they're relationship with God the Lord Jesus Christ. on the other side buddihism takes it the other way... which they thought that Chrisitian are just like other religion that are based on their religions. I think u can be both at the same time but would you rather believe on the things that you're not sure about... this is about you and God. your relationship with Him not the religion.
religion won't bring you to the right way but God will.

Elements of Buddhism and Christianity are harmoniously incorporated in "Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website. If you are a thinking person, have a read, and see how it strikes you. Best wishes.

Jesus and Buddha were both selfless beings who let their lives be guided by a source beyond their selfish wants.

Jesus called him(it) "God".
Buddha called it (him) "Tao".
There is no real difference. It's this simple.

If someone wants to think more about it, it's going to get complicated and divided into categories and subcategories. This digresses one away from the simple truth, however, its done for the folly and entertainment of the frontal lobe (in the undisciplined mind).

Jesus and Buddha both had disciplined minds. They didn't have frontal lobes that created thoughts upon thoughts. If we let our inspiration be selfless, and discipline our minds, then we can see that Jesus and Buddha were what they were and that there is no need for comparison.
