Somebody posted a question on here that got me thinking...

Why is it more socially acceptable to "bash"/make jokes/generalize, about some religions (Christianity, Islam, Mormons, etc) but it is in no way socially acceptable to do the same to Judaism and Jews? Many, if not most religions have also faced genocide, slaugher, and persecution througout history. However, one can pick apart the faults and actions of religious leaders (molesting priests, bombing muslims, etc) but if one does the same in regards to the Jews, then one is immediately labeled "Anti-Semite".

Can anyone give me a clear-intelligent answer to this? I keep telling myself it's the holocaust, but there are things just as bad and worse going on right now!

only that the act of same-gender sex is a sin.

In other words, they don't try to force homosexuals to be straight, but only ask for celibacy.

Do you think this is a better response to Homosexuality than the general Protestant one?

Do you think that the Church is right to say that being homosexual itself is not a sin?

Do you think that the Church is right to ask homosexuals to be celibate?

I myself am a Catholic homosexual who lives celibately, and I’d like to know what other people think of it. Especially other homosexuals.

(And don't tell me that "the Catholic Church is not Christian"! I've heard it ad-nauseam)

Its not much when compared to the witch craze, mainly perpetrated in Protestant countries.
The Spanish Inquisition was a buissness of the Spanish state.

How come people exaggerate and always want to blame the Catholic Church for every conceiveble evil?

To me it seems like anti-Catholic propaganda from Protestants and scoffers at religion.

And don't give me that crap of "god wouldn't ask me to do that." Just use a little bit of your imagination and pretend this would happen. This is a purely hypothetical situation.

This is a yes or no answer. I really would like to know how much you're willing to compromise for your love to god.

This topic is in regards to the ongoing controversy regarding gay marriages and the right winged response that it should not be allowed because the bible defines marriage as a union between man and woman. I've searched electronic bibles and have had no success finding a definition.

1 Timothy 2:11-13
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve.

...Why so many homosexuals insist that I am going to fail at being celibate?

Why do they assume that I'm just going to snap one day and run off to find a female lover?

(Many people who answered my last question posted their answers before they read my EDIT that spoke of my own experiences. Just so you know.)

Do you believe that satan can read our minds? I was told he couldn't,so I now pray to God silently so as not to tip him off to what I'm saying.Satan intrudes enough in our lives.I like to think that he can't hear what's being said during my prayers, because that's my special time with God,and satan has no place in that conversation.

We are Christians and just moved 5 wks ago to a new home 35 miles away from the old one. My oldest boy who is a high school junior HATES his new school. Our other 4 kids are ambivalent about their new schools. Now my wife wants to take the oldest boy back to his old school (35 miles away) to complete his last 2 years there, because she thinks he will do much better. This is tearing our family apart! Please offer considerate Christian, Biblical advice if you can.
