While I'm not sure on the religious reasons, singers often block one ear so that they can hear themselves sing. The natural inner workings of the ear make your voice sound different than what people actually hear (ever listen to a recording of your own voice and wondered why it was so far off?). Blocking one ear helps change the ear to hear what the rest of us hear. Also some singers cup their hand next to their mouth so some sound gets bounced back to the ear.

1. the reason being one knows when they hit the high note. for call of prayer should reach every beleiver. 2. some people may get distracted from noise of either themselves or from the surroundings. so keep concentration. 3. it isnt a imaam, imaams are scholars who teach the Qu'ran and about Islam. the people who give Adhan -- call for prayer are called -- Mu' izzin (pronouncuced -- ma-uzzin).

To make his voice carry. Sort of like when you are shouting down the block at somebody and you cup your hands around your mouth. Just a different style.

just look at mariah carey when she sings. Sometimes she has to reach high note ....do u notice that she touch one side of her face? actually she is touching her ear..u know the tiny part very next to cheek. By doing that, she could hear her high note better.
AND to the "morning" u know nothing at all...so, just shut up!!
