Let me answer my own question: NO.

I grew up Christian but as 1 grows up the grip on reality gets tighter and you let go of certain things you were taught as a child. I dont understand why people follow something so un-realistic and, to be frank, hoaky, based completely on hear-say from other people born into the same reality(refering to the earthly creator of the religion). And when you have dozens of major religions that are so much more feasable. Im trying to be as cool about this as I can, this is nothing new to me and I know how sensitive people are about their beliefs, but I'm at a loss. Please explain.

And complete and total blind faith is only validated through cliches so dont give me that.
Serious answers only please~

What is the link between beleiving and knowing anyways. I wonder if atheists respect people who see a pantheistic reality or gnostic.

2006-09-13 10:53:00 · 7 answers · asked by Corey 4

I am asking this question, mainly because all the answers I read in response to similar questions shift the burden of proof around. A lot of atheists believe that God doesn't exist because there is no evidence for his existence. Theists believe that God exists because there is no contradictory evidence. Both are fallacious.

The arguments go like this:

God exists.
There is no evidence for his nonexistence.
There for he must exist.

OR

God does not exist.
There is no evidence for his existence.
So he does not exist.

So rather than shift the burden of proof, answer the question evidentially speaking using logical arguments without committing the aforementioned fallacy.

I sit here in utter amazement at the stupidity of about 6 self proclaimed Atheist who preach the non-word of God, but answer every Davinci Code questions by saying IT's TRUE, IT's TRUE JESUS WAS MARRIED. I'm sorry, but you give your fellow non-religion brothers a bad rap. How can you believe in the marriage status of a man you don't say doesn't exist?

How long do you think it will take for humanity to see that organized religion has only suceeded in giving people reasons to hate each other , judge one another, kill each other, cause wars and basicly drive a wedge into our further progress all in the name of thier god?

Has a dog Buddha-nature?
This is the most serious question of all.
If you say yes or no,
You lose your own Buddha-nature.

I believe it is because most people's definition of religion is too narrow. Not believing in God is a religion. Whatever or Whomever you put your trust in is your God. I have not found anything or anyone that I am more willing to put my trust in than the God of the Bible. It amazes me that some people's religion inspires them to hate someone just because they trust in something different. I am saddened, myself. I can only believe that what I trust in is true, and I try to give everyone else the right to do the same. But I will claim my right to tell them I think they are wrong. Please help me see this more clearly if you can.

Isaiah 7 vs 14 says a miracle sign would happen-a virgin would have God with us---ok so its already said it would happen

Isaiah 52 vs 13-52 vs 12 says -He will be exaulted, but first marred more than any man-and he will lay down his life to make atonement for our sins, and be despised and rejected."

we dont hate fairy tales -we hate the truth and -it is another proof that for my Jewish people and all people Jesus is our Messiah and made the blood atoenemnt for our sins---no temple no atonement without jesus-makes God a liar-cause he told Moses we got to have a blood sacrifice to make atonement for our sins-Leviticus 17 vs 11
shalom heart and soul peace -even if u just fulfill the prophecy that we would despise and reject him. yet he dies and rises for our atonement and to be our friend psalms 22 & 16th chapters he will not let his anointed one rot in the grave-and he will give us joy ohhhyess when we come to know him peace to alll ohhhyessss-and my tears are turned happy!

1) God should love humans as a parent loves children: endless patience and endless compassion. No child left behind, no failures (failure isn't an option). No question too stupid to be answered. No effort too great to help those who are slower in grasping the concepts. No threat of Hell (no corporal punishment). We each get a heaven suited for our uniqueness. Everyone feels valued, loved, understood, safe?

2) God should love humans as a strict disciplinarian. Lots of rules and punishments. Forgiveness only for the most humbling acts. One heaven for those who get there, with a huge stadium where everyone can worship God forever and ever and ever with never a break or anything else to do. Anyone who doesn't like it gets chucked into a lake of fire and brimstone. Your wife, your husband, your kids, your parents, your best friends, whomever. And it shouldn't matter to you that they are chucked away, as long as you're sitting in that stadium worshipping God forever and ever and ever?

Mythology is a powerful tool it seems.
If we took the science we know now and could show it to a human living 3000 years ago, could we prove many parts of his god to be true.
Did science explain the god of the non-modern man?
Are there some mindsets that still fit in the category non-modern?
Is there more "god to explain and how far can we go and how much of "god" can be measured by science and our inventions?

If I contemplate a subject and contribute more knowledge than what was previously known, does "god" become smaller or larger?

If "god" exists in the imagination and deep thought, how can we use this to advance humankind?
