I sit here in utter amazement at the stupidity of about 6 self proclaimed Atheist who preach the non-word of God, but answer every Davinci Code questions by saying IT's TRUE, IT's TRUE JESUS WAS MARRIED. I'm sorry, but you give your fellow non-religion brothers a bad rap. How can you believe in the marriage status of a man you don't say doesn't exist?

Not all atheists say that JC didnt exist. I am atheist and I believe that there was a man named Jesus. A MAN. Not a God. This man was very self absorbed, and perhaps a little psychotic. He was crazy enough and was able to convince others that he was the messiah. Just 12 people to begin with, and thats all it took. Mass hysteria followed. People saying they saw things they didnt actually see. (If you were in a group of 3000 people and 2999 say they all saw a pink elephant and you were the only one who didnt, would you argue with 3000 hallucinating people?) Think about The Branch Davidian Compound. David Koresh told his followers he was the new messiah. They believed him. what makes them different then the first twelve deciples? Nothing. David Koresh was a lunatic. But yet his followers didnt surrender when the goerntment came for them. The held the compound for 51 days. They torched the entire place with themselves in it because they were sure that Koresh was the messiah.

So I believe there was a man named Jesus and he had a hell of an influence on the people of his time. But he wasnt what he claimed to be. Just like David Koresh

Isn't it also stupidity to accept something without questioning if it's accurate or not?

Most Atheists accept that Jesus was a true historical figure, but maybe like some historical figures, a myth and a legend was built up around him. (You know, like in retelling, all of a sudden the hero is 7ft tall, when he's actually a 5'5".)

Maybe Jesus wasn't married, that isn't the issue. The point is that maybe there are a lot of facts about Jesus the man that may have been lost or covered up by the Church since proclaiming his godhood. Many things could be lost in history, and the true sense of intelligence is to entertain that mere possibility.

I could be wrong, and I'm not an atheist, but I don't think that most of them deny that Jesus existed. There is enough historical evidence to support his existence. I think that the matter here is that they do not believe he was the son of a God they do not believe in to begin with. Also, they are citing some historical (though mostly anecdotal) evidence of Mary Magdalene arriving in France either pregnant with child or already having a child, not long after his Crucifixion. There is also oddity in the fact that for a Jewish Rabbi to be unmarried was almost unheard of in that period. Just stuff I've picked up in my "travels" through Discovery channel addiction lol, so if I'm off base here I'm sure an Atheist will let me know :).

the united statesare a huge ol' blended bag. you will locate interior the pews on any given Sunday all flavors of christians (people who have faith Jesus became divine), agnostics, Atheists, Buddhists, Muslims, etc. i in my view am an Atheist, yet on sitting around me final Sunday have been a catholic, a Ba'Hai (sp?), a former Muslim, and a closet Methodist. one in all my ministers is Buddhist, one is Atheist. EDIT 9/19/08: you're honestly appropriate. you could safeguard any theory you pick and nevertheless be a UU: christian, muslim, jewish, ba'hai, atheist, buddist, hindu, pagan, despite. they have no expectancies which you will exchange your ideals to be a member. merely be cognizant that no person there believes precisely the comparable ingredient. that's an sensible, searching for, form community.

There's insufficient evidence to conclude beyond a shadow of a doubt that the man named Jesus, accepted by Christians as the Christ or Messiah, existed at all, let alone enough to inform us whether he was married or not. Some atheists and other non-theists accept that Jesus probably did live, but none accept that he was a divine being.

hi :}
i am not an atheist just to start ,,,i do believe their was a GREAT enlightened man named Jesus ,he was a master teacher ,he was trying to enlighten the world with his knowledge [same as Buddha ]......i don't think they [atheist]claim Jesus was not a man they simply do not believe that he was a savior that he was born of a virgin .....................i must admit i am not inclined to believe it either ,,,,,,,not in the controlled ,altered book that is suppose to be the word of God .....it is too light ,to limited to be totally accurate .Jesus many teachings are missing /altered or taken out of context .........surely you can recognize that the bible was man written and then the possibility of it being altered to frighten and control people was certainly a possible happening ????
so i feel when they say he was married perhaps he WAS ,,,after all in the time of his life span it would have been very odd if he hadn't been ,,,,,i am not saying he was not a holy man i am saying the story of his life is out of whack ,and to call people stupid about something that can not be prov en well i know faith and all that ,,,but Christan's really close down with any sort of difference is put out there ,it is called close minded .............

I have never heard an atheist making any claim about Jesus, but I will take your word for it.

And their is a great difference in believing Jesus existed and Jesus being divine.

Ask a Jew if you want a theists opinion.

"but answer every Davinci Code questions by saying IT's TRUE, IT's TRUE JESUS WAS MARRIED"

They probably do that to make a point. They say it's true based on no evidence at all just like you do with the Bible.

I'm an Atheist, and I have said time in and time out that the Da Vinci code is false as the author himself has said it. It is your Christian flock that tries to discredit something discredited.

Either way, not believing in Jesus doesn't mean you don't believe he existed. (I really believe he existed as a human being.) It means that you don't believe he is the son of god and that most miracles attributed to him are false.
