It is remarkable and the ease with which Christianity spread - this ease has been argued as evidence of Christianities truth.
Other factors may be the universality of the religion (Odin was a rich mans God, the rest were left with Thor) and, frankly, the message of salvation is a lot more attractive than "Odin's gonna get ya!"
An interesting story I read somewhere was of an oracle of Thor, during the conversion, issuing a challenge on behalf of Thor to Jesus! ("You and me son. In the car park outside Asgard. Closing time") - It looks like the dark age pagans of England would take the constant "who would win a fight between Jesus and Mohamed" questions seriously/
There may have been some coercion in mainland Europe but in Britain and Scandinavia (where Thor, Odin and the lads were) conversion was almost entirely voluntary.

From the god of the Zoroastrians most faiths stem including, one could surmise with a reasonable amount of accuracy, the god of the Jews.
The religion of the Magi is the oldest religion still practised on Earth.
Paganism is still practised in most countries to this very day, I gather that there is an upsurge in paganism in the U.K. at present.
The reason that the middle eastern god became the dominating god, would appear to be mostly political, driven by invaders, colonists and the armies of many empires, we see many iterations of monotheism spreading across the old world under various guises to places far and wide. To Sumer, India, Egypt, Greece and Rome and down the years to us arriving at the various religious systems that we know now.
Crikey...not easy to answer in a few words at this time of night!
I am very tempted to say `also sprach Zarathustra` but I wont .

Neither. Take each and all the human beings who fall from possibly-deadly heights. Tally up what share die. human beings like Michael Holmes may be on the very short checklist, the occassional rarity that lives. further, human beings purchase dropping lottery tickets each and all the time, yet somebody is occassional the fortunate winner. whether there's a in basic terms a .000...0001% danger of a few thing occurring, it is going to finally ensue.

They did not have much choice. There kings converted to Christianity for political reasons(Rome) and forced everyone else to convert or face death.
Also invasions such as the Catholic Franks(France) invading England and killing anyone who did not convert

Here we go again, the Muslims struggling to impose their Allah on us! We have our Christian God, whose Truth shall overcome all the ungodly.
Norse gods gave way for the Word of Jesus.
They should learn to spell!

They were Norse gods, not sure how big a stronghold they had in UK. Presumably missionaries were responsible for the change
