I've been reading a lot of different questions about religion and spirituality lately. From what I've read, Why do people hate Athiest so much? I myself am somewhat Agnostic and somewhat Athiest. I accept the fact that there are Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Hindus, etc. out there in the world. Why don't you all accept me for what I am? Not only that, but why are you all to ignorant to even notice other religions for what they are? I believe that one should respect another persons beliefs simply because they are their own. I have mine and they have theirs. Why should one be better than the other? Why are people so stubborn when it comes to these things?

Please no bull about how all sins are equal, or how Jesus died so I can beat the crap outta children all life long. You do not know god's will, I'm just asking for your thoughts on the ranking of sins. If you don't want to call them sins, call them actions.

a. Murder?
b. Rape?
c. Abortion?
d. Lying?
e. Sincerely believing in your heart that God doesn't exist as told in the bible?
f. Actually flushing the bible down the toilet at http://flushaholybook.com

Also is there any scale that your local preacher has told you about
like:
3 abortions < not believing in god < Murder < not donating 10%

i'm looking to learn Hinduism and need a good resource to do so.
i know virtually nothing about this religion, and so i'm trying to avoid spending money on books and such until i know if it is for me.

basically, i want an informative website that covers the Traditions, the Practices, the ways of Worship, the History, and the pantheon of Hinduism

also, if you are Hindu, i would enjoy it if you would E-mail me what you know and possibly answer any questions i have.

thankyou,
Samuel

Why is it okay for atheists and other nonchristians to put down/criticize/judge Christian beliefs, but should a Christian put down/criticize/judge nonchristian beliefs, he/she is deemed a Bible-thumper?

I think it is important to witness to my family effectively. The problem is that some of my children know the Bible so they think they are already saved but it's apparent they're not and my husband and other children think that as long as they simply believe in God they're alright. Is there a way to talk to them without them becoming defensive and can really understand what it means to be saved? I have been living it out for 20 years, and they come to me for prayer, but they don't want me to tell them anything.

Everyone has a Choice in life......It's called Free Will
It is what separtes us from the animals who act on instinct alone...
Then why is it that You can not take the blame for yourself
the circumstances surrounding you are not a fault for your decisions in life.........You can chose to change or not
Why the need to cast the stones that are laying around your feet....it is so easy to blame someone else when in fact WE all have made our beds and some choose to sleep in them........
Sin is to Blame
We are all as Filthy Rags are we not?
Not One is Better than the other
We will all be judged
God is not to Blame

First forgive me if i say something that is offensive or out of context but there is a "theory" that Jews have of finding a Red baby calf? or something about baby calfs leading to their Messiah. not sure if im correct again i dunno if its just a conspiracy theory or not. If it is then what does Judaism say about how their messiah will arrive? or when the world will end?

when i was 17, i got "saved". now i wonder what i got saved from. I never asked god for riches or fame. all i ever wanted was true love. ( and a couple of babies) but all i got was a lifetime of solitude. and of course the harsh lesson that if your not a pretty boy, you're nothing but a dollar sign to women. is this God's idea of a joke? If so, it's not funny.
All religion has done for me is make me wanna DIE.

Obviously many people on this Yahoo! answers thing are here purely to instigate hate and publicly display their ignorance and arrogance. I ask for those of you who seek real dialogue not to reply, answer or give these people any kind of reply b/c it only encourages them to go on. And i know many of em will reply to this but ignore them they don't even deserve the energy of your typing, b/c they will not change. And hopefully they'll just give up and get a life. =)
Thank you.

In the U.S., churches are allowed to have property and businesses tax free, but in Stafford (TX) they are finding it hard to pay for city services, because of the number of large churches in the community, that are not paying taxes. Jesus said to pay until Caesar what is Caesar's, yet Churches find any way possible to avoid paying taxes. Should they be paying taxes, like any other businesses?

I went to a Bible Fellowship about 8 years ago but I only stayed 2 years and have not been to church since. The pastor called me at home to tell me I had to kick my teenage son's best friend out of my home because it gave the appearance of evil to have him living with us since I was divorced. This boys mom died and I took him in as he had no one and he was a nice boy. He finished high school and got a good job and his own place and every Mothers Day I get a beautiful card from him thanking me. Also, one day I took a ride home from evening service from an older gentleman because it was pouring out and pastor called me up to say that gave the appearance of evil. He also told all the women he would bring in a "real christian woman" to teach us how to dress. I never saw anyone dressed inappropriately. He wanted big dresses and heads covered in hats. Swimming should be done in outfits that cover past knees and elbows. Should I look for a church or just watch Charles Stanley?

Just try not letting the nut cases get you fired up over religion. Every one can have an opinion, you just don't have to "push" it on others.
Try it, you might feel better.

My 2 year old son's father and I were never married and are no longer together. He is Catholic. I have always disagreed with the Catholic religion. Anyway today my son's dad said he talked with the priest or whatever at his church about baptising our son and the priest (or whoever) said that he needs consent from both of the childs parents. I told my son's dad that NO he does not have my consent.
I do have questions though. Does the Catholic church require consent from both parents to baptise a young child? why? how strict are they on having consent from both biological parents? Why do they baptise young children? What process does it involve and what all is involved in Catholic baptism of a child? What will it mean to my son's dad and his family if my son is not baptised in their church?????

I got to understand this after the 9/11 events that Revelation 18 describes 9/11 too perfectly. I only met one christian who agrees with me, so far.
