. Your good works just aren't enough, or maybe you broke up with a long time gf. and think God will hate you cuz you separated what He gave you. Or your conscience thinks you should give away your money to poor people all the time. What if your mind is always negative about yourself? What if you believe and do good works...but your conscience just says you're only average and not really as righteous-trying as you wish you were? What if your conscience says you should give up your current career or education and become a priest, and if you say no..you think that would be a push on God. What if your mind is just plain crazy! If God only looks at my conscience i think he'd only see my negative mirror of myself and few good things.

like darn, drat, oh good night oh my goodness,

in place of profane language, saying oh good night instead of oh my g** to prevent taking God's name in vain. What words do you use instead of cussing or taking the Lord's name in vain? Curious.

To the religion you already practice? I am really curious about this, I've seen it. Does, for instance, a Christian get offended when another Christian tries to convert them?

A previous questioner asked "Who is the bigger sinner, a homosexual or the bigot who condemns him (or her)?"

I was appalled by the large majority of answerers who said all sin was equal.

So let me get this straight... If I sin by say, stealing a candy bar, that's as big a sin as killing the store clerk and all the customers in the store and THEN stealing the candy bar??? What kind of whacked out, sick and twisted weirdo religion is this anyway???

Please try to defend "all sin is equal"...

One of the most basic Christian principles is that NONE of us are perfect or sin-free, and NONE of us ever will be in this life. We're human and incapable of perfection. Jesus paid for our sins so that we could move on past that and learn to live better lives here on earth. We should turn away from sin as much as possible, but we will ALL fall short, so why do non-Christians get so angry when they see Christians mess up?

you either accpet the Bible at face value or you're denying the authenticity of God's Word, which would qualify you as agnostic.

I've read from the fundumbentalists on this channel, that all sin is equal.

I think that killing a million innocent people is worse than saying "goddammit".

Even at christian confessional the priest will give you different penetance for depending on the sin you admit to (50 hail mary's for something - 100 for something else).

So is all sin equal, or are those that hurt humans here on earth worse than those that (may or may not) offend god? (that may or may not exist, and may exist in a different form than your holy book says)

Similar, is flushing the bible (or any holy book) really a sin at all or just free speech? And if it's a sin, is it equal to killing a MILLION people? http://flushaholybook.com

So?

After hours of thought and conversation, we concluded that Count Chocula was deffinately not a Christian. Why is it that people are fighting wars, and killing each other in different countries when horrible abominations like this sit on the shelves of our grocery stores? (Sarcasm people, sarcasm)

The husband/father is abusing his wife and child. Counseling doesn't help as he sees the problem is his wife and son. Is it wrong in God's eyes for the woman to divorce her husband for the child's sake? Or does God say stay in the marriage and let the abuse continue?

My grandfather wants me to start going to church. But that isn't the worse part. He wants me to be saved. I went to church with him a year ago and hated it.
I don't want to be "saved". Apparently I might be cut out of his will if i don't start going on a regular basis. Which would be fine with me. How can you be in someone's will if they don't know your name after 20 years.

So the problem is that no one in my family actually knows that i am an atheist.
How do I get out of going to church and getting signed up for baptism, with anyone finding out that I am an atheist?

And also i keep it quiet because it just makes my life easier.

Where I say "to keep us from God", I wanted to say "to keep us from *believing* in God" but couldn't say it that way because of the usual Q-box 110-character limit.
