You seem to be missing the point of sin. It's not like breaking a scaled law. Sin is anything that displeases God or is against what God initially intended. You can't escape sinning. That's the point Jesus tried to drive home over and over again. We're all sinners. Our only hope is repenting and learning to know God and keep God in our lives. God has intentions for us all. We need to strive for those intentions. We need to steer clear of sin, ask forgiveness. Only God can forgive us. There's a ton more. You should do more research on your own. You might be surprised with the answers you find. You might be surprised about how great your life changes.

The answer is yes and it's also no.
There are no sins that are unforgivable, except the sin of pride. All a person must do is humbly come to God, have a repentant heart and sincerely ask God for forgiveness. In this way, all sins are equal. (If someone is prideful, instead of humble, they cannot come to God.)
The consequences of sin are not all equal. Some can be undone and others can't. A kid that steals a candy bar can return it. A murderer cannot unmurder somebody. Also a candy bar will not be missed much, but a murdered person will be (in most cases).
Nevertheless, a murderer may still see the horrible thing he/she has done and ask God for forgiveness, and be forgiven. The serial murderer, Son of Sam, David Berkowitz comes to mind.
A candy bar theif may, on the other hand, say he deserves the candy bar and shouldn't have to pay for it because he just wants it. He is prideful and unrepentant.
So who is the worse sinner? The candy bar theif is worse because the condition of his heart is still dark. The murderer David Berkowitz is now forgiven because he has seen the horror and evil of his actions and asked for forgiveness. His heart is now full of light. Still, as I said before, the consequences of the murderer's sins are far worse. He took away the lives of people without just cause and the families of those people probably still miss them to this day.
I hope this helps clarify.

Sin is sin. The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 Does it say a great sin or just plain old sin? Romans 5 : 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
No law, no sin.
Romans 6 : 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 6 : 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So what exactly is sin?
1 John 3 : 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Nowhere do you find that any sin is any different than any other but ALL sin ends with the same result, death. Whether you steal a candy bar or kill a thousand people, sin is sin and both will end up in the same place and be burned up in death. the one that killed a thousand people will spend more time burning than the one that took the candy bar but the end is the same, death.

It is tough for us to understand the word sin, it is a spot on your garment, and all sin large and small make a spot. there is a unforgivable sin , and then a worse sin to the little ones, but no where is one sin weighed more than another, the fact is one sin can spot your garment and keep you from the Kingdom of God , if it is not forgiven. But this is the good part Jesus gave us a way to clean Sins away. some sins like murder as in the case of Cane and Able Cain was totally covered with Sin, and God cannot look on Sin, so could not see Cain, this is the reason we must Clean our Sins to be reconciled to God, Jesus on the Other hand is a Medea tor for us he can here you when you ask in his name or Authority and relay to God your prayer.

Catholics believe that sins are not equal.
Murder is not the same as stealing a candy bar.
A mortal sin is a grave infraction of the law of God that completely destroys the divine life in the soul of the sinner (sanctifying grace), constituting a turn away from God. For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must be present: grave matter, full knowledge of the evil of the act, and full consent of the will.
Most of the sins we commit are venial sins. Venial sin is a sin which does not destroy the divine life in the soul, as does mortal sin, though it diminishes and wounds it. Venial sin is the failure to observe necessary moderation, in lesser matters of the moral law, or in grave matters acting without full knowledge or complete consent.
However consistent unrepentant venial sins can slowly destroy your relationship with God and become mortal sin.
With love in Christ.

No need to "defend" a fact, but I will explain it.
The Christian God is a holy God and will not tolerate the presence of sin. At all. To any degree.
Thus, if you have sinned a little, you are a sinner and unworthy in God's eyes.
If you have sinned a lot, you are a sinner and unworthy in God's eyes.
God does not grade on a curve, but on a pass/fail basis. If you can live a sinless life, then you are in. Otherwise, you are in the same boat as everyone else.
We need some sort of help to clear our slate, so to speak. And that is why we need Jesus. He did live a sinless life and we are able to cover ourselves with his sinless nature and go before God IF you have accepted his death and resurrection on your behalf.
See? It does all tie together. One of the great things about the truth. Its logical.

Sin is not equal to us humans. Some sins bring out the abhorrence in us more than others, because being human, we have caused our own idea's of right and wrong. And everyone has different idea's. But to God sin is sin, regardless of what sin it is. God has declared us all unrighteous because of sin,... all sin. Romans 3:10.... As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.... So to be in fellowship with God we must agree with God. But in our earthly flesh we detest some sins more than others, because some sins cause more harm than others, but we suffer because of all sin. If we could look at sin through God's eyes, it would be easier to hate the sin, but love the sinner.

Sin is nonsense that someone has convinced you is real. They did this to induce guilt because guilty people are easy to control.
I know because I used to believe in sin too. The first time someone questioned the reality of sin I thought they were insane. I eventually found that It only seems real until you actually start to question its reality. Then the whole idea falls apart. Try it if you are so sure it’s real.
I suggest you get a copy of the course in miracles. It points out the impossibility of the idea of sin better than anything else does.
The idea of sin was invented to induce guilt and make people believe in a judgmental God. God is only love He judges nothing.
The course pulls the sin rug out from under the whole idea, and the judgmental God fantasy simply falls apart.
Love and blessings

I believe there are different degrees of right or wrong -- but I do not believe in sin.
However, I was raised Catholic. Catholics believe that there are three types of sins -- Original Sin, Mortal Sins and Venial Sins.
They believe that people are born with Original Sin -- and have to be baptised to be cleansed. Mortal sins are particularly serious. Anyone dying in a state of Mortal Sin will go to hell.
Venial sins are less serious. They will not cause you to be sent ot hell -- but you must have them cleansed before going to Heaven. If you die with venial sins on your soul -- then you go to Purgatory until they are cleansed. Then you will be allowed into heaven.
The passages of the Bible that support the existence of Purtgatory are among those books of the Bible that Martin Luther edited out -- which is why most Protestants do not believe in it.

This is a HUGE misconception. All sin is NOT equal.
This is what Almighty God said to the prophet Ezekiel:
Eze 16:1 Again the word of the LORD came to me:
Eze 16:2 "Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations,
Eze 16:51 Samaria has not committed half your sins. You have committed more abominations than they, and have made your sisters appear righteous by all the abominations that you have committed.
Eze 16:52 Bear your disgrace, you also, for you have intervened on behalf of your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. So be ashamed, you also, and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.
Since God is comparing the sins of one nation to another (even saying Israel's sin makes Samaria's look like righteousness) you have to assume all sin is not equal. People believe this because all sin gets you into Hell, but that does not mean all sin is equally bad.
glad to help :)
