Religion describes the rules that govern how you worship.

God is the creator of the universe and should be the target of your worship activities.

Good qeustion, though. I think a lot of people confuse the two.

First, religion is not for the worship of God. The role of the original congregations were to teach people about God and and how to preach and teach. Religions distorted that into that only the elite need to learn about God and how to preach and teach. Worship is not a group activity, it is individual and personal, between you and God. Jesus said the person most blessed is not the one who prayed at the eastern wall of the temple, for all to see, but the one who prayed at home, alone, for no one to see.

If you are going to church to simply worship, then you are not learning, and there is so much to learn. More than just the stories taught children. Like, did you know that Luke was a medical physician, and that Paul was a highly educated man? Also, did you know that Jesus was born in the year 2 B.C.?

For almost two thousand years, religions have chosen to teach people that worship in the church is more important than learning God's Word. They have created elaborate ceremonies and rituals to hide the fact that they are teaching their members very little about the Bible. Every person should have a complete knowledge of the Bible. Every person should be qualified to be a minister. If the church is split in two, every person should be qualified to lead the new congregation. This is what the original Apostles taught, but it was lost as people began putting themselves up on a pedestal, saying they are the authority, and that people don't need the knowledge, they need on bow down in worship, out in front of the person on the pedestal.

They are two different things.
I am so glad you asked.
Religion is a system set up to supposedly worship God.
God is the Being that is to be worshiped.
Religion gets perverted because it is administered by men.
Big business, lots of cash, no taxes either.
You are not audited by an outside concern, only the insiders know for sure. You make a nice living and you don't really have to know what you are talking about because the people give you credence. They believe everything you say, you went to cemetery--I didn't misspell the word.
So now you have an external church and a good living.
God on the other hand wants you to worship in spirit and in truth.
The internal. A personal relationship.
There is a big difference.
By the way He doesn't charge anything. He doesn't need anything.

Religion is a limitation that people put on God.

God is the true self.

God is the original, or background consciousness that all individual consciousness emanates from. We seem to be separate from God but this idea of separation is no more than an illusion made believable by the idea that we are a separate individual physical body. At the dissolution of the body or death the truth of what we are, of what God is once again becomes apparent.

At the moment of this realization the individual self is not lost, the true self is simply realized.

Religion is a man made set of rules. like works and rituals and traditions. God is the creator and sustain er of all His creation. God has always been and there is not a time When He was not God. He is the the one and Only God there ever will be, there is not another He is worthy of all praise,Glory, and worship. There is only one Almighty God. Christianity is not a religion Christianity is a personal relationship with God.

God is a single entity known as El, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, etc. Religion is a system of faith dedicated to the worship of a god or group of gods, who may or may not be God. Also there are groups such as Buddhism which teach about finding the way to paradise without having an actual god involved (as Buddha is not technically considered a god in most Buddhist sects.)

Although the question is a little vague, I'm putting in my 2-cents. Technically, a God is the core figure or symbol of a religion's belief. A religion basically revolves around their belief of a certain God e.g. Buddha, Jesus Christ. While a religion is a certain organization or group that believes in a certain god. In order to belong to a religion, you have to have the same belief as the religion. You have to believe in what they believe. I hope this answers your question. I would've said more if the question was more distinct.

They are both related; difference being religion is the belief and worship of the God. The God of any religion could be anything, from snakes and cows, to Allah and Buddah. We just worship and see God in different ways(religions), but ultimately we are all under one roof of the same God.

This is a good question.
God is our creator and from the beginning he needed no man made religion. Out of love he made man and woman.
He told them the way to serve and respect him. It was after the disobedience of them that forms of beliefs started. He chose later the faith Abraham had and he became friends with him. From his line Gods only begotten son was sent to redeem mankind. He laid out how he was to be worshiped. We as humans are still sinful no matter what but if we try our best to serve him he is well pleased through his son..the Christ.
Today just look at the many beliefs today claiming their religion or form of worship is the one...is not this Sad.
God is forever...religion is not.

God is the point of religion, trying to connect with Him or your concept of God. Much religion is attempt to reach God by ritual or performance. In Christianity, God reaches down to man by bcoming one and dying for our sins because He realized we were too weak o reach Him. It would be like three swimmers attempting to cross the Pacific. 1 swimmer a novice, 1 an ammature, and the last an olympian champion. They would never make it. Even the olympian would fall way short. When we try to reach God in our own ability or through religious exercise we fall horribly short. That is why God did it for us when Jesus took our sin, shortcomings, and penalty on the cross. We just need to trust Jesus and forsake our sin and God will become a personal experiential reality to you.

Religion is mans interpretation of how they think God wants to be worshiped. God is the object, religion is the man made method by which man communicates to God.
