Classically the three vows a monk took were poverty, chastity and silence. Do you think silence is a beneficial spiritual practice? Have you practiced it? Do you still practice it? If yes, what does your practice look like and is it an important part of your spiritual life?

When I was but a lad, I had a after-school job in a busy grocery store. One evening when I was picking up some overtime in the insanely busy Passover season, some old shifty-looking diamond retailer rolls up and asks me,
"Where do you keep the matzo?"
"What's matzo?" I asked, ever so innocently.
"I don't know. What's matzo with you?" he shouted, and started cackling maniacally.

Was he putting a curse on me?

Did the Church of Rome worship on any certain day of the week?
What day of the week did the Christians of the first three centuries after Christ died, hold as God's Sabbath. Did they worship on the seventh day, or another day of the week? Did they follow the 4th Commandment of God, or did they abide by another's decree? Did they emmulate Christ and try to walk in His footsteps, or that of another?

My last questoin before i sign off.

Sky divers, speed racers, and so many other people constintly put their life at risk for the ''rush'' and enjoyment, but to willingly do this, is it not like spitting in the face of The LORD, by being so carelss with the gift of live He has given you?

[ questions haven't gotten many decent answers, can you change that?]

For myself, out of the 12 disciples I would have to pick Thomas as I often have my minor doubts and tend to try to do too much myself. If I could choose a female follower then Martha as I get too caught up sometimes in the physical things and needs of this life. I am trying to change this. And you?

We're on for this weekend.

Bring all those dusty old Bibles off your shelf, or stop by the thrift store and pick up a few dozen and let's throw them into the BBQ fire. Just imagine roasting hot dogs and marshmellows over hundreds of Bible versions, New King James, American Standards, Revised, New Revised, Modern English, Revised English, Jerusalem, Living, Modern Readers, American Translation and others! I guess the International Standard gives whatever you are cooking a nice exotic tangy flavor!

I love the smell of burning Bibles in the evening!

Do you know that:

Do good anyway...

"In the Final Analysis"

by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered...
forgive them anyway

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives...
be kind anyway

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies...
succeed anyway

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you...
be honest and frank anyway

What you may spend years building, someone may destroy overnight...
build anyway

If you find serenity and happiness, people may be jealous...
be happy anyway

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow...
do good anyway

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough...
give the world the best you have anyway

You see, in the final analysis, it's all between you and God...
it was never between you and them anyway

This is a follow-up to this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060809052211AAA4TdH&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhDFUUjxs5TbEU6orLCvHagO2uByXs945pQ--#NbUvWzK1UjlDEc0YrG1b

- more specifically to some of the answers. This question can't really be turned around because atheists generally have no choice but to vote for theists - or at least people who give lip-service to theism.

But if you believe in God, would you consider voting for an atheist? Or would you discount him/her from consideration because of his/her religious beliefs?
