Sky divers, speed racers, and so many other people constintly put their life at risk for the ''rush'' and enjoyment, but to willingly do this, is it not like spitting in the face of The LORD, by being so carelss with the gift of live He has given you?

[ questions haven't gotten many decent answers, can you change that?]

Sky diving is not a sport....Nor is speed racing(racing in vehicles). And more likely to get injured playing football then driving a car at 120 mps?I'm not talking nascar, just street racing and such.

Sorry, just had to point out what this young women had to say

I think they are showing true faith. They jump of a cliff knowing they will land safely on the bottom. God didn't give us life so we can go to a 9 to 5 and then home to sit in front of the TV. Life is for living. It is ours to do with as we please. The sin is not living this life. The sin is being to scared to take any risk.

You have that pretty much.....one hundred....percent....completely.......
WRONG! You are not to tempt The LORD. And we're not here to ''live life to the fullest'' we're hear to worship the All Might God.

I am back, and pleased to see some decent comments.

Spitting in The LORD's face:That was ment as a figure of speach.

Stress causes death, so from my logic stress should be a sin:Considering sin as in something that goes aginst The Lord:

Stress is a sin, as the Bible tells us not to be anxious, Do not fret, do not stress, but trust in The LORD to provide what you need.

Life should NOT always be about enjoyment. The LORD should be first, and foremost, in your life.

I do agree with you, especially when people risk other people's lives at the same time. i was once talking with some Christian friends and they were talking about how much they love speed. They said they loved to push their car on small roads (i'm talking about Europe) at 120 mph. i don't know what is the speed limit in your country but on our national roads it's 55 mph...They just couldn't understand why I was so shocked... It's true that Jesus said He had came to give us life in abundance but He didn't mean to do stupid things...I like in Dead Poets Society when Keating tells Charlie that to suck the marrow of life does not mean to swallow the bone. It's exactely the same for Christians. We are allowed to suck the marrow out of life, but to swallow the bone would be stupidity and irrespect towards God.

More accidents and deaths happen within only minutes from ones own home. Driving to work walking to catch a bus to school. Grabing a cup of coffee at a 7-11 just as someone also decides to rob the place. The minute that we are born we face death. People who live thier lives trying to be careful get killed just like anyone else who puts thier life on the line for the rush. In fact those who get that rush have a far better chance of survival than someone who sits at home worrying about everything because that rush keeps them from stressing. Stress is the number one killer. So being that stress is the number one killer and people choose to stress that would make stressing a sin because you have chosen to stress and so you must as you put it be spitting in the lords face. How he has a face I will never know since from what I gather he is supposed to be a spirit and a spirit has no form so how would he have a face. Also as far as my birth certificate states my mom and dad gave me life. WIthout either one of them I sure wouldnt of been born.

I understand that you view those activities as a choice they are making which could cause them to lose their lives. But they are making those choices not because its a thrill to "challenge death" but because its a thrill to do the activity. Death is just a possible side effect. By the same token some folks enjoy saving other people's lives even though they risk death in doing so. For example, a fire fighter or a policeman. So should we not encourage fire fighters because their "enjoyment" also risks their lives?
Life is meant to be enjoyed (as long as you take care not to hurt others in the process). Everything you do can result in death. I could be killed on my way to the grocery store just as I could be killed running into a burning building to save a life. Either way, if you live your life with no regrets (and again, that doesn' t mean running amuck serving only yourself) but if you live a good, honest, fair life then no matter how end up leaving this life, you will feel fulfilled and you will have made Him proud.

Do you actually understand the concept of 'sin' in Judaism? Not the Christian use of the word, the Jewish concept. It's from an archery term which means 'missing the mark'. As in you take your aim, you let go the bow, sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss. Either way, you try to learn from what happened. And you try again. That's what life is all about. We're never going to be perfect. We're never going to hit that target every time. But we keep trying to get it right. And when it goes astray, Judaism encourages us to make amends to those who were harmed. Will you please explain to me how you think this is awful? And how you think you're going to improve your aim if you never stop to reflect on what you've done and why. That's what repentance is about in the religion of Abraham.

Instead of trying to make a judgment about another's behavior, when I cannot possibly see into his/her heart...perhaps it is more useful and less hypocritical to point out that Jesus made a summary of all God's commandments by saying that we must love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves. If we put God first and give Him our whole selves, then all our actions will be motivated by the desire to respond to what we believe God wants us to do.
Will we do it perfectly? No, even believers are in a long process of transformation and for me, the difference between sin and mistake has to do with whether we KNOW what is expected of us or not.
I hope this helps you. Peace and grace to you, friend.

Well, the first order of business here, would be to define sin, so that we could give a proper answer. Sin is the violation of a Law of God. So, the next question would be, "Which Law of God's Commandments does doing stupid things like jumping out of airplanes, cycle speed races, etc.etc. violate?" If no Law is violated, then no sin is present. Man's law does not count where sin is involved. Man's law is subordinate to God's law, just as State law is subordinate to Constitutional law.

That depends on whether these dare devils believe in God or not and even if they do, its up to them if they want an early grave. We risk our lives every day without knowing it- crossing a road, driving cars and so on. I don't understand why they would be sinning- they're not hurting any one, its just their passion. Personally I dont think God gives a toss who does what.

Religion aside, risk taking can be a growth experience. However, one has to take into consideration responsibilities to other parties. In other words, if you got hurt, could you still care for family--or does no one else rely on your well-being? Or, if you got hurt, would you die or be severely incapacitated? Or would it be somewhat minor?

Risk-taking (whether physically or emotionally) builds courage and character. But one needs to do so responsibly.

Furthermore, for all you Christians out there--look in your Bibles before you judge others. It is FULL of God's people taking RISKS for their beliefs!

Notice that you said "gift of life". You are supposed to live life to the absolute fullest. He lets you make your own choices, hence that free will thing. And since apparently he has already determined when you are going to die, what is wrong with deciding how it will happen. Part of the gift of life is to enjoy it. How can you say that is a horrible thing for those people to do?
