Many Christians retain the ways of other sects, like Buddhists. you just have to find the right denomination for you. The great thing about being a real Christian is that you come to understand that God wants you to be who you are. Who you are is a good thing.

You can go to a local church (there are Christians in India....) and talk to someone. Have you read the Bible? You could start by this. Good luck and God Bless.

It takes nothing more than praying to God and telling Him,
"Lord, I do believe that Jesus Christ is your Son and shed His blood that my sins may be forgiven and have everlasting life. I accept Him as my Lord and Saviour and ask that my name be in the Book of Life. Amen."
It is truly that easy. No-one has to pray with or for you, and it matters not whether you are in a church, restaraunt, car, or wherever. It is more important that you pray it. It can be personal and through the sacrifice of Jesus, we may all talk to God and do NOT in any way shape or form have to have a human interface here on earth to do so. No one human is greater than the other or is able to be closer than another. We ALL have the ability to pray to Him and let no-one tell you otherwise. Now I know that things are tough there for Christians, and being Baptised may not be able to be done for a while. That is okay. Baptism is something the Lord commanded us to do, and we should as it represents our changing from the life of unsaved to saved, but it is NOT what saves you. Accepting Jesus as you Lord and Saviour as outlined above is the ONLY way.

I understand that being a Christian in India can be dangerous. I know a retired pastor from India. The Bible says that when you pray do it in private and your Heavenly Father will see what you do. Also there are many on-line bibles that you can read.

Why?? So you can be "controlled" by the Christian Church?
I would think about this decision. Hinduism is a beautiful religion, filled with the dualistic aspects and truths that Christianity refuses to acknowledge and accept.

as christanity is really a simple and complete religon it covers all the aspects of life u just simply have to go to church and to take take baptism(a gateway to be a part of GOD,S beloved creation)
and then accept a christinaty from ur very heart and u will be a chirstianity.after that read bible daily go to church every sunday and praise the GOD almighty all the time.

Simply say this prayer and accept Jesus with an open heart.

You are afraid you will be persecuted if you open yourself up to Christ, and worship Christ. Christ died for us, and was persecuted and suffered for that very same reason. You can start by Believing in Him, asking forgivness, and getting a hold of a bible. Pray to Him, ask Him to help you dispel your fears and doubts. He loves you, don't wait any longer........ if you feel Him tugging on your heart, then it is time. I will pray for your salvation......
