The fact that christians, and less offensive religious sects are so ignorant really bothers me as a scientist, and offends me as a person. But is there any hope in helping them or should we just let them swim in their stupidity and laugh from the sidelines?

The first thing to realize is that an evangelist is a performer, and as such his name is his calling card. Consider Billy Sunday. Where would he be today if he'd gone by his real name - John Davis? Probably dead and in his grave. And what of Estus Pirkle, Rod Parsley, Creflo Dollar, and Benny Hinn? Where would they be today if they'd kept their respective given names: Ed Clark, Tom Johnson, Mike Smith, and Jeff Hill?

What would you call yourself?

Brother Creflo M. L'Impe? Pastor Wick "Bo" Timbers?

Other slaves were spoils of war. On their way out of Egypt, when they fought against the Midianites east of the Sinai, the people of Israel 'slew every male' but 'took captive the women of Midian and their little ones.' Then they brought the captives to Moses. He said it would be better to kill the grown women, and save just 'the young girls who have not known man by lying with him.' So 32,000 Midian virgins got Hebrew husbands (Numbers 31: 15-35). Even before they left Canaan, Jacob's daughter Dinah got raped by a Hivite prince, and her brothers obliterated the Hivite males, but saved 'all their little ones, and their wives' (Genesis 34:29). Then after they'd resettled in Canaan, Jacob's son Benjamin's descendants went looking for girls in Jabeshgilead, and destroyed every man and every woman who'd 'lain with a male,' but brought 400 virgins back to Shiloh (Judges 21:11).

It seems like major God bashing going on here. That really scares me. The most important thing is that people accept Jesus as their Savior and it seems like so many are completely blaspheming God, the Bible, etc. for whatever reason, mocking Christians for believing in God.

I don't think this is something Jesus would be doing.

What do you think?

We can conclude that a lack of evidence that something has been done isn't a valid proof that the thing can never be done.

If I say something like "curing Alzheimers is impossible", then it is fair for someone to ask me to explain why I think it is impossible. Right?

Jesus preached the good news of the Kingdom to others. What is the "good news"?

Remember, theists will condemn you for living by this code because you are doing it of your own free will instead of because you're afraid that if you don't a supreme being will set you on fire.

It is generally believed by Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Islam, Christianity) that man is the only animal on Earth with an immortal soul (please correct me if I'm wrong). If billions upon billions of other creatures are allowed to live and die with neither salvation nor comdemnation, why is it so hard to believe that there is any other purpose for humans than to live, multiply, and die?

I am so confused, I hear people say the Muslim religion is a peaceful one, and others say Muslims are taught from day one to PRETEND to love everyone, but they really don't.....what's the REAL deal?
I want to beleive they really do love everyone, then I remember hundrends of Muslims dancing and laughing in the streets of New York on 9/11.....even small children were celebrating! Was this just a small group, or did it reflect the feelings of the entire culture?

His skin of brozne, head of wool, and eyes of Fire? There is no real truth of the "only begotten son", If there is no true infromation about a persons life over time, you can fabricate what you want others to believe, It's like giving a baby a pacifier, to stop them from crying. So what truths do you really know about Jesus, the bible has been written in many versions and has been tainted so many times, it's not reliable. If you find out about his life from 14 to 32 you will know the real Jesus, the Messiah, who had to find his innerdivinety, nothing is just bestowed upon us, If you seek, you will find, Jesus had to seek, to find God. Don't you search for truths or do you let them come hit you in the face.
Think about it before you answer.

Bacteria were pretty much the first organism around and they've always been the best organism at reproduction.

If natural selection essentially chooses mutated traits that improve an organisms ability to reproduce, then why did anything evolve beyond bacteria.

I keep hearing muslims saying that they believe that Jesus was a great prophet in a long line of prophets, but muslims seem to believe the very opposite of many of the things Jesus taught. for example, Jesus taught that marriage should be between only one man and woman, while muslims believe in men having four wives. Jesus was totally against divorce, while Islam permits it. Jesus taught there is no marriage in Heaven, while muslims believe men are rewarded in Heaven with multiple virgin brides. Jesus preached love and forgiveness of everyone, including ones enemies, but muslims believe in vengeance. There are many more examples, but these should illustrate the point of the question.

If someone told you that they would date a non-Christian but would not marry one, would you date them? Would you assume their views would change, or not risk the probable heartache? Would you "convert" to please them?

Seriously! One woman said to me that she did not care that her argument is circular. It seems that most Christians simply do not know how to state a logical argument, nor care.
Its like they are saying that 2+2 =3.

then in the end I lose nothing. But if there is a God like I say, in the end an atheist would lose everything, right? So why even risk it? As if believing in God is a horrible thing to do?

Eternity is a long time to be wrong. Why would you want to gamble with something as important as your eternal destiny? It takes only a moment to trust Christ for your salvation. There will be an eternity of pain and regret if you don't.

You don't take chances with guns do you? You don't take chances and run red lights do you? Why would you take a chance on something that is far more important than these? Don't take a chance on something eternal. It isn't worth it.

We all know it is a fact that religious importance and IQ are negativly correlated, such as in uneducated areas, but do you think it is religion that lowers IQ or is it a low IQ that causes the need for religion in the first place.

Hello everyone. I am looking for a free psychic reading. I know I'm going to get alot of stupid responses, but don't knock someone else's beliefs. I am not an idiot, I don't get taken in by scams (Notice how I'm not offering any money?)
Bascially, my life is in crisis, and I need a good, honest psychic to give me a little insight and help.

Thanks!
