There are miles--nay, leagues; nay again, entire worlds--of difference between the original and your interpretation of it.
Not only have you not asked a question even indirectly but you fail to raise an equvalent.
You also fail to understand love, for many adopt and live by the original out of gratitude to the Deity who issued it for their lives, their salvation and the safety from harm for their immortal souls instead of because they fear that Deity.
Even under the rules of the Old Testament alone, the original was not mandatory. It was a guide to a properly lived and commendable life. Why? The Hebrews did not have a Hell. They had--just as the modern Jews do--a "place of shades and shadows"--of which, the real nature was and still is, for Jews, unknown.
Jesus, you see, is the first "rabbi" to explain the nature of the place where Satan resides and God only visits (whenever He cares to.)
You need to better understand both the Jewish and Christian faiths before you try playing religious intellectual with the world, buddy--because you just fell flat on your face. You have no points to argue from--or with.

Atheism is simply the lack of belief in any gods. It itself has no moral codes or rules of conduct. Now atheists all do, but it's not atheism that has a philosophy, there are other philosophies an atheist can choose to believe or not. Some atheists are Objectivists and put a high value on libertarianism. Others are Humanists of various sorts and put a high value on helping and protecting people. There are many possible philosophies and moral codes an atheist might have. But atheism doesn't dictate any.

What? You mean you can come up with your own code of ethics for behavior? Are you sure you don't need a god to stop you from killing someone? It might be handy on those difficult days. And then if you slipped up and didn't live by your own code of ethics, you could repent and be saved. It's very convenient. Why make your life more difficult than it has to be?

Everybody worships something, be it self, stuff, ideas, gods, or The God. It is impossible to not worship anything at all.

I condemn no one. I forgive because I was forgiven.
I cannot condemn anyone because I must address the shortcomings in my own life.
