Religion is a serious mental illnesses. It’s the inability to face the reality of life and the finality of death. It affects 85% of the USA and 75% of US victims are Christians. The more pathetic and desperate a persons life, the more likely they are to believe in a god. People with otherwise empty lives, are the strongest believers. It gives them false hope that there’s a higher meaning to their sad and pathetic lives.

Religious people are dangerous. They cannot think for themselves, but instead cling to every word the bible says. Religious fanatics can somehow throw out all scientific
evidence and replace it with the word of one book that has no credibility.

Recognising religion as a type of mental illness would be a good start to help cure this disease. We should develop support groups along the lines of Alcoholics Anonymous - “My name is Sam and I’m a recovering Christian ...”

There have been so many comments here today by Christians that are truly wrong-headed and hostile towards science - the pursuit of knowledge. One person, for example, recently just wrote 'Science is wrong. Religion is truth.' Dozens of other people here are suggesting that science and religion are completely incompatible with each other.

I don't have any religion, but seeing as how some 80% of the world have a religion - and about 1.5 billion of those are Christian - I need a little reassurance that Christianity is not just a huge monolithic rejection of everything scientific. Please make me feel better!

peoples interpretations of things?
Then we can embrace science and faith.
For example, I heard a man of science give a very good perspective on Genesis. From a scientific perspective and as someone who embraces faith. It was awesome!

"(The Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca) was an exhilarating experience to see people belonging to different colours, races and nationalities, kings, heads of states and ordinary men from very poor countries all clad in two simple white sheets praying to God without any sense of either pride or inferiority. Atheists don't believe in any god or religion, and they generally kind of shake their heads in disbelief at people who choose to.

Christians try and convert everyone to their religion because they feel it is their moral duty to try and save people, seeing as if they don't believe in their God they're going to hell.

Who is more tolerant in the end?

Being from a non-mainstream religion, I dont understand it when Christains say they are being targeted and prejudiced against.

I have had Christains gather in my lawn and light prayer candles and sing hymns, when all I have done is hang my religous symbol from my rearview mirror. I have been dumped, fired, and kicked out of places just becuase of my religoin, so I dont understand it when Christains complain when they are asked to hide their crosses at work. I have never worn my symbol at work, I cant tell my husband's freinds what my religion is, because it will affect HIS work.

Please explain this to me. How can you feel targeted when you have an entire nation celebrating your holidays and others get their entire lives disrupted while they arne't even advertising thier beliefs?
