peoples interpretations of things?
Then we can embrace science and faith.
For example, I heard a man of science give a very good perspective on Genesis. From a scientific perspective and as someone who embraces faith. It was awesome!

idduno - You are so limited when you reject faith. Science can say nothing about certain things. The least educated faith person, knows more about such things than you. And they love science too!

ITS NOT THAT THEY DON"T AGREE, YOUR JUST UNABLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND BOTH SIDES!!!!!!!

cheeky monkey - Faith and science is sooo much better than just science. Again, you just lack experience regarding the things of God. Regarding an understanding of the Bible. So you are not qualified to rule ANYTHING out regarding faith. I say, pursue both!

Faith and Science may not agree, but for all the doubters out there do a web search on the Bible and Science, that is if you are brave enought to check it out.......you are right there are some very good studies from scientist that support alot of things in scripture, also archeology supports scripture, most are just to lazy to check it out because they think that their non belief is right, same thing with Bible Prophecy, they don't want to know....just like the scripture says "Professing themselves to be wise they became fools".......so guess that sums it up, note some of the other answers you got there's the evidence!

Okay, and why not believe in magic and dragons, after all there are plenty of books written about them and there are people who believe they are real.
Don't forget Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, millions of people believe in them, so why don't we just say they are real too?
Only an ignorant person would agree that science and faith are equally correct. Science is about experimentation and duplication to produce a result. Faith is about imagination and has little or no fact involved in it.
As sorry as I am to admit it, faith is wrong. It always has been, and it always will be.

There have been many elements of faith that have been proved wrong, from the actual day of creation to the fact the universe does not revolve around the Earth. Science will continue to disprove faith. After all, faith is completely based on the superstitions of the many who came before us, and has little basis in fact.
If you believe otherwise, ask yourself how you have been brainwashed since childhood. What is the basis in fact for what you believe?

science is based on sound theories, faith is based on wishful thinking.

there are many who make desperate attempts to join the two. just because a person wears a lab coat or has a phd in a scientific discipline doesn't make the person a man of science.

such "man of science" does not or refuses to recognize the disparities and contradictions between science and religion, and uses his scientific training and jargons to deceive the ignorant masses in some futile attempt to debunk the established theories.

it is unfortunate that people are so witlessly trusting of what they are fed. if history has any lesson for us, it is that the masterminds of horrific acts can not accomplish things on a large scale without nitwits to do their bidding. 'faith' is one of the most effective tools.

Because science is about fact, and you don't "interpret" or have "opinions" about facts.

Take the Theory of Gravity. You could disagree with it all you want, but jump off a building and I guarantee you The Theory of Gravity will take over.

People in this country have lost the ability to distinguish between a fact and a belief.

I think the problem lies in that it becomes a question at all. It is detrimental to both ways of thinking when there is the pretense that they share explanatory powers.
For example, it is not necessarily a problem to be religious and accept the scientific theories of evolution, or quantum physics. The problem arises when certain religious people attempt to inject say, literal passages of scripture, into the scientific argument to "contradict" those theories. It doesn't work and debases both efforts.

Faith is believing in something you can't see. Science is knowing what you see. So you see, faith and science are opposties.
Believing in a God we cannot see is faith. Believing in a creator is common sense...no faith or science is needed. Science knows that our universe was created the problem is, who was the Great designer?

Look up Ken Ham www.answersingenesis.org
Kent Hovind www.drdino.com is also a good source

If you START with the Bible, science does back it up. If you start with science theory.. and yes some of them are UNPROVEN theories, then why would ideas of man be able to hold up to biblical accounts.

Science is _not_ people's interpretation of things!

Who came up with the idea that science and religion are both 'philosophies'? It's completely wrong-headed.
