Being from a non-mainstream religion, I dont understand it when Christains say they are being targeted and prejudiced against.

I have had Christains gather in my lawn and light prayer candles and sing hymns, when all I have done is hang my religous symbol from my rearview mirror. I have been dumped, fired, and kicked out of places just becuase of my religoin, so I dont understand it when Christains complain when they are asked to hide their crosses at work. I have never worn my symbol at work, I cant tell my husband's freinds what my religion is, because it will affect HIS work.

Please explain this to me. How can you feel targeted when you have an entire nation celebrating your holidays and others get their entire lives disrupted while they arne't even advertising thier beliefs?

I think everyone just likes playing the victim now and then, even those who don't seem to have any right to do so. We even have millionaire movie stars whining and complaining. Everyone likes to claim they are in the minority, they are being victimized, they are persecuted. We all tend to only see the negative side of things - Christians see news reports about how Target employees can't say Merry Christmas, and they freak out and say that they are persecuted against and discriminated against. They don't realize how good they have it, that other religions have to fight just to avoid being seen as evil, predatory, to get the military to allow them to put a simple symbol on a gravestone, etc. We all think we have it the worst and that the grass is greener on the other church lawn. It's just human nature.

This is a misguided problem that many Christians fall into. They do not realize that in trying to show you love and want so badly for you to know the love of Christ that they actually drive a further wedge. Instead of treating you like a demon of some sort. They simply should live their lives by example and answer you questions. Let you explore. Please forgive them they know not what they do. Christians do however suffer from bigotry because they see the things that this country were founded on slowly being rubbed away. If a Christian were to stand trial in a Buddhist, Muslim, Atheistic court...would they get a fair trial? If a Buddhist, Muslim, or Atheist however stood trial in a Christian courtroom?
There are simple rules that have kept things in working order here that are being removed saying that prayer is not allowed in school yet anyone can show up with a hex sign, swastika, or fat little Buddha on their shirt. Try showing up with a Cross or picture of Jesus.
Be encouraged in your search for the truth,
Peacemaker

simple, because people who don't like our believes try anything to persucute us. and that goes for anything but mainly for Christians because many people don't believe in Christ because of the miracles he performed and because they don't like some of the things the bible says. We can't bring our bibles to school or work, we can't tell others about Jesus at school or work, in some places we can't pray so we get treated the same way if not worse. And all of our holidays are not celebrated nationally if we could there would be a whole lot more. Plus people might celebrate them for candy, gifts, food, a day off of work, etc but not for the right meanings so they really are just there for non-Christians.

Well it would be nice if you told us what your religion is for comparison.

You can be thrown in jail for being a Christian in China.
