(I use the term 'him' out of convention).

God? hey if you read history God is one of the leading causes of death, Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Jews all killing eachother because God told them it was a good idea. and we eat animals we hunt animals, and we have the death penalty... so we get to chose which forms of life are sacred, and we get to kill all the rest... NEAT DEAL Isn't it? You know how we got it? we made the whole thing up

1. Christians will tell you that Jesus sacrificed himself to atone for our sins. Or God sacrificed him. Or something of that sort.

2. Christians will also tell you that Jesus was betrayed by Judas, and this betrayal is what got him killed.

3. Now if you're betrayed by a member of your party and then killed, you can't then say that it was your plan all along and that you were sacrificed to save humanity. It's like saying you were pushed AND you jumped. Logically it doesn't work at all, when you think about it.

4. But then along comes this Gospel of Judas, which supposedly said that Jesus secretly instructed Judas to betray him. This is much better, because now you CAN jump, while appearing to be pushed, so there's no logical problem with it. Instead the problem lies with the church, which declared the Gospel of Judas to be heretical.

Question:
If mainstream Christians don't believe the Gospel of Judas, what exactly DO they think happened? Did He jump or was He pushed?

Before you answer, please do some research and understand that free will is incompatible with predestination. The two can not coexist.

Would you still say that Jesus was cool even if he was preaching Buddhism or some other philosophy? I don't claim to know all about Jesus but I think he was cool because of his message. Did he really say he was God's son or that we are all God's kids? Did he say he was some kind of favorite or did he just want us to live for a higher power?

I think he was cool for his teachings.

Thoughts?

I have been trying for some time to put my thoughts together on the subject of God and what life is all about. Here's what I've come up with so far (I really want your honest input - tell me what you think):

We are living for no reason at all.

We 'became' only because random 'sperm met egg'; a being was formed and it grew to adulthood then passed away - a life-cycle similar to ANY other life-form.

Humans, unlike lower level beings, having the unique ability to analyze, process information, create structures and to control the environment, began to think that our lives MUST have some profound meaning. It could not possibly be merely accidental.

Some were/are afraid that's all there is and so a superior spirit was conjured up to give comfort that we will live on ethereally.

But perhaps it is as simple as: We live, we die, then we become manure - giving nourishment back to the earth so that the circle of life continues.

Creationism is *true* and
Evolution is *false*

Someone just posted that there are "so many poofs to back up the Bible and and evolution doesn't have one." Of course, said person presented none of these proofs to support said claim.

(and let me say that I am one who believes that both are possible, that they can coexist.)

Okay - let's have them.

MARK 4:10-12 But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, "so that'Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, And their sins be forgiven them.' Would you still believe in "god"? Would there be a point to still believing in "god"? I'm especially curious to see what agnostics have to say, since they believe in god, but not religion. In other words, what's the point to believing in a God, if not for the afterlife?

"I am a historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history." --- H.G. Wells, British writer, 1866-1946

At one point the Pharisees come to Jesus and ask him for a sign.

1. In Mark 8:12 Jesus says that "no sign shall be given to this generation."

2. In contradiction to Mark, in Matthew 12:39 Jesus says that only one sign would be given - the sign of Jonah. Jesus says that just as Jonah spent three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so he will spend three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Here Jesus makes an incorrect prediction - he only spends two nights in the tomb (Friday and Saturday nights), not three nights.

3. In contradiction to both Mark and Matthew, the gospel of John speaks of many signs that Jesus did:

a. The miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana is called the beginning (or first) of the signs that Jesus did (John 2:11).

b. The healing at Capernaum is the "second sign" (John 4:54).

c. Many people were following Jesus "because they were seeing the signs He was performing" (John 6:2).

Confusing contradictions?

a. In Matthew 27:5 Judas hangs himself.

b. In Acts 1:18 he bursts open and his insides spill out.

c. According to the apostle Paul, neither of the above is true. Paul says Jesus appeared to "the twelve" after his resurrection. Mark 14:20 makes it clear that Judas was one of the twelve.

In Matthew 19:28, Jesus tells the twelve disciples, including Judas, that when Jesus rules from his throne, they will sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Very confusing all these Contradictions? Im sure Christians have a good way of knowing which is the true version?
