I once joined a certain church (no names). It was the first time I'd been involved with any church.
I happened to mention to one of these people that I did not wish to become a fanatic, I was a little nieve then. This person by the way lived only a few houses from me and worked at the same place I did.
The following Sunday the serman was " I'm a fan of Jesus ". Now, it doesn't take much to put two and two together. I thought at the time " It's just a coincidence " but as the sermon went on I begen to feel embrassed and more than a little paranoid.
I found out later that this person I had spoken to about being a fanatic, had been assigned to ' Keep an eye on me '. This person knew I was going through a tough time. My partener was in Hospital, this person knew this, they had taken me to the Hospital a number of times, I also had a young child to take care of, so I was pretty stressed and to add to it I had these people making me feel paranoid.
opinions please?

NO WE DONT!
"Catholics worship statues!" People still make this ridiculous claim. Because Catholics have statues in their churches, goes the accusation, they are violating God’s commandment: "You shall not make for yourself a graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow down to them or serve them" (Ex. 20:4–5); "Alas, this people have sinned a great sin; they have made for themselves gods of gold" (Ex. 32:31).

It is right to warn people against the sin of idolatry when they are committing it. But calling Catholics idolaters because they have images of Christ and the saints is based on misunderstanding or ignorance of what the Bible says about the purpose and uses (both good and bad) of statues.

Anti-Catholic writer Loraine Boettner, in his book Roman Catholicism, makes the blanket statement, "God has forbidden the use of images in worship" (281).

If there is only one god why is there so many religions? There are alot of religions that say there is only one God but most are reffering to a different God from the other religion. =S
And u can't sit up here and say that your God is the only God..

Why is it that people use cause and effect as an argument for the fact that there is a God, but when asked where God came from they say he is eternal? It doesn't make sense, if you believe in cause and effect then God had to start somewhere.

SInce there are so many religions...people who believe in god are going to heaven and people who believe in another are going to hell.
People who believe in a God besides yours are going to that God's heaven but you're going to that God's hell or wutever he/she/it/they would call it? What about the people who have never heard of your God they just automatically go to hell..? Make any sense?

born and raised Jewish-i began a life search-why a god? why did we go to water for yom kippur (our holiest day of the year) to get our sins forgiven-when the scriptures says-"The life of the flesh is in the blood, and i have given it to make atonement for your souls." Moses thus saith the Lord (Leviticus17 vs11). God told Moses we need a blood sacrifice for sin-when we lost the temple -70 bce aprox. -either God gave us a command for atonement -that had been fulfilled-or he lied to us-
Jeremiah 31 vs31 on states -"I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, not like the one i made with Moses....they shall be my people and i shall be their God."
Well also did God die? if the Atonement wasnt fulfilled by now we have been over 2,000 years without a prophet from God or an atonement as God said the blood sacrifice for our sins. some come and say im not Jewish here and elsewhere- i say -read Isaiah 52 vs 13-53 vs 12 it points to Jesus-so does
the Koran-is mixed truth

I grew up in a Christian home.. and my boyfriend is Muslim.. He asked me to mary him. I really love him, and want to marry him, but I cant marry him unless I convert to Islam. Problem is, I beleive the teachings of both Christianity AND Islam. To convert, I have to soley and wholeheartedly beleive in the teachings of Islam, and I dont.. I know that if I convert only to marry him, that I will go to hell, for not following Islam as it is written.. What do I do??

The Da Vinci Code, while is a great book, is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to Jesus having a blood line. Dan Brown is not the creator of this theory - yes, it's neither been proven fact or fiction, thus it is a theory.

I repeat, this is not Dan Brown's creation. He may have created a story that surrounds this theory, but that's all he created, not the theory but just the story. He got the theory from the Dead sea Scrolls that were discovered.

Why can't people seem to understand this?

If we have no promise of tomorrow shouldn't we live this day as if it could be our last? I would wish I could tell those who mean so much to me how much I appreciate them. I think I will go do that.

When someone asks something like is God imaginary or is he even real I hate when people say "Who do you think created you"
That sounds so ignorant to me. There is no way logicaly or even spiritually that you can prove that God created you. When God falls out of the clouds and says that He created me then I'll belive it until then umm no.
