About sexual abuse: So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

In case, were the Apostles a perfect model?
20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

John 20:20 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD.

Many people who answer this question are not totally informed. The Pope doesnt get any money except what he needs to make his journeys around the world.

The Popes have tried to make peace around the world, some successfully.

It may have something to do with the fact the Catholic church executed millions of people who refused to adopt their Jesus myths.

Or, it may have something to do with suckering poor people out of their money to support a dictator (pope) in his castle (Vatican).

Or, it may have something to do with the fact the Catholic church is the primary sponsor of illegal immigration.

Maybe it's a combination of all three.

The Catholic church does nothing that does not further the goals of or enrich the pope.

Because that is where we got the Bible from in the first place. God though the Holy Spirit's inspiration, lead the men of our Bible to write what they did. Those who came after the Catholic Church are trying desperately to deny this truth because they seek to supplant the Church with man's idea of what church is and what the bible actually teaches. Everything Jesus taught and did was the will of God. The Church, the bible and Faith Tradition all comprise the true one, holy, catholic, apostolic Church.

From my experience, I believe that many people do not like the Catholic Church because it does not practice whate the bible teaches. In other words, it does not often demonstrate what it is to be Christian. It tends to focus more on the "laws of the church" versus the scripture. In other churches people find out that God loves them and in turn they love, accept, and support others. This love of others and support is hard to find in the Catholic Church...it lacks demonstration and modeling of these things to its parishioners. It is not until one experiences these things through another church that the realize how it is supposed to be.

Who is throwing rocks at the Catholic Church?! That is just disrespectful. I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly do not hate the Catholic Church. I disgree with some of its doctrines, but that is no reason to go around hating people because they disagree with me. I have friends of both the Catholic and Protestant Faith. As long as we respect each other, there is no problem. I don't step on their beliefs. I listen to what they have to say. In return, they don't tread on my beliefs.

I am a Christian who is greatly influenced by the Lutheran denomination. I am a follower of Christ, not Martin Luther, but that man did rock! I love him!!!! :)

Might be the fact that they not only have priests raping young children but that they also protect those criminals, or the fact that their position against contraception only helped AIDs to spread in Africa, or the fact that they have historically held back scientific progress, or the fact that they have perpetuated homophobia, misogyny bigotry, or the fact that they think that they have some kind of connection to the divine that other people don't but they never bother to demonstrate, or....well you get the picture.

I don't . I have many friends who are catholic however even they don't agree everything the catholics teach. They are getting more charismatic as time goes on, Praise God ! He is bring us all along, teaching us all, that the denominations are somewhat a curse and that one should believe in Jesus 1st of all and put Him 1st. He is the most improtant thing not the church you go to. I don't agree completely with any church I go to, because they are ran by men.

you sort of answered your question, the church doesn't mind its own business it seems to me like the message they portray is if you are not a part of the church you are no good and you need to change. The catholic church needs to live their own lives and not everyone elses, and stop believing their way is the only way.

I am not Christian and do not hate Catholics.
I guess its a perception you have come to believe through the media.
Not all you read or see on the net is true. There is alot of propaganda against different faiths.

They hate what they don't understand. There a nice PC answer.

The real reasons are:

Women are perceived to be treated unequally

Divorce is a sin.

Even devout people have problems with the Church's stand on abortion.

Americans are uncomfortable with a foreign religious leader telling them how to live (The Pope)

Priests can't marry (Makes no sense to most people)

Priests are disproportionately represented by pedophiles

Bishops cover for pedophile priests because "any sin can be forgiven"

Most modern Catholics I know openly challenge or ignore church edicts.

No one has issues with Catholic charity work or the basic Christian morals it teaches.

I don't know that people hate the Catholic church, but if they do, perhaps it has something to do with their belief that good works can win salvation? The Bible tells us that no man is good enough to enter into Heaven. Salvation is a free gift that we can either accept or decline. But if we accept it, we HAVE salvation. There is nothing we can do to earn it.
